A part of me always knew this is how it would happen.
The Summerdream have a way to make even the hardest decisions easy to take, and everything always seem to go perfectly with them around.
The birth started just as they arrived,
it was short and almost painless compared to the times I have delivered before,
and we had not one,
but two perfect little girls.
Two...
Obea and Obelia.
"You have 4 children, Blossom...six with them"
Oberon was saying just as the boys came back from school and the girls were playing around the room.
I don't think it was his intention to make feel guilty for my family in any way, but it was the truth. They can't have children of their own, while I can't seem to stop, and the twins are as much mine as they are theirs.
Maybe it would have been better if the kids weren't here when it all happened, but I can't hide the truth about their twins sisters either.
I can only wish some day they could understand letting Obea go with her father was the right thing to do.
And it was. I don't regret my decision, but it doesn't relieve my pain, or the feeling of emptiness I'm left with.
It doesn't make it easier for the boys either. They are older and know what had happened. Jonas especially wouldn't even talk to me for a while.
I returned to work as soon as I could after the birth.
I don't like that I need to leave an hour early than the kids, so they all have to stay with the nanny,
but I'm usually back home right on time to greet as they step down the bus.
I also try to stay as occupied as I can when at home, which is easy with two toddlers.
but being with Obelia my mind inevitably drifts to her sister.
I'm constantly in touch with the Summerdream, though, and I know we'll see her again, and that she's well cared and deeply loved by them. That I would never doubt.
Besides, I do have five children living with me, and I can't let this situation affect them more than it already has.
Maya loves playing around with Molly,
but she also loves getting attention from her older brothers,
and spending time with them.
It feels like her birthday came so fast, though.
It's hard to believe that she's starting school already, but at least she isn't going alone. Her brothers will be with her.
Jonas and Lander however, though both love their sister,
tend to do things together making her feel excluded unintentionally.
So I try to spend as much time as I can with her, but Maya is outgoing and friendly, and needs friends her age as much as family.
Lander is really attached to his siblings, included the toddlers, with who he's constantly playing peek-a-boo. Lazlo calls him almost every day too. He's the only one of my kids who is in touch with their father. I'm sure Jon Smith has his own ways to keep an eye on his son, but Jonas is not in direct contact with him and Malcolm doesn't even know about Maya. I'm sure one day soon, she'll ask about her father, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes.
Jonas, on his side, is probably the calmer of them all. He's helpful, studious, independent, and though he really enjoys playing with his siblings, he can enjoy being alone as much.
He's going to high school very soon. I'm sure he'll become a very responsible teenager, but it only reminds me that he'll be leaving for college soon as well....

Suffice is to say this was the hardest part to write yet, though it's rather simple in general terms. I struggle a lot with emotional scenes and situations, so hope Blossom doesn't sound too cold about letting her baby go. It was very hard, but it was the right thing to do.
Thanks so much for reading! :)
