Tuesday morning was the first real day in Kunming. We were a bit late to Tai Chi practice, but it went well. This was followed by Chinese language class. Some of the sounds are French and some of them are Russian. Some sound very English. I found that between my knowledge of the three languages I was able to pronounce pretty well. I was a bit worried about breakfast, but it was delicious. We had noodles and bread and hard boiled eggs. I was absolutely full and was very happy that we would not be doing Tai Chi that day. Hong Kong was nothing like what I expected. It was hot, humid, crowded, filthy and utterly exciting. Still jet lagged I woke up after three hours of sleep at five in the morning. We had a delicious breakfast that consisted of both western and eastern foods at the hotel restaurant and began planning our day ( Read more... )

We got in late Friday night into Hong Kong. It was raining and extremely hot, definetely the tropics. I had my sweater on and I was wearing my backpack, when we came out of the airport my lungs constricted and I found it difficult to breathe. Well, here I am in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. This post is very short because I have to go to a lecture in ten minutes and I still have e-mail to check.

Everything is fine and I love this city! I also loved Hong Kong. More details will be typed up later, maybe after dinner today or tommorow.
