So my friend came over yesterday. Well, my mom's friend, but I've known her my whole life. I gave her my novel a few weeks ago, and she said she really liked it. There's still some work that needs to be done. She recommended I find an editor to help me take it apart and put it together again, because about half of the writing needed work. I found out from my friend yesterday that her husband's cancer came back. He's been battling terminal lung cancer for the last couple of years, and had been in remission for a while, the last few months at least. Since before I was diagnosed. Some days I feel like an old, ugly decrepit lady. The kind you see with the plastic scarf walking slowly down the street with a metal cane and tan orthepedic shoes. Shuffling really. Sooo, I went to the last in a long line of doctors to figure out why this sore on the bottom of my left foot won't heal. It's the same sore that got badly infected at the beginning of June. So when anything hurts, feels different or operates differently than it should on or in my body, I get very very twitchy these days. Not surprisingly, the last time I let something go figuring it would just take care of itself with a little help from me, I ended up in the hospital for two days. It's a beautiful Saturday morning, and I have just finished giving my novel it's final read through. It still needs some major editing, which my mom and I are working on, but basically, it's done. I discovered the Kirkland Library yesterday, and with my shiny new King County Library Card, proceeded to check out as many books as I could carry. Which has been much diminished since I started chemo, so I had Ian help as well. : ) May I just say that I love the Kirkland Library... it is completely awesome, and I can't wait to go back and explore ( Read more... )

So chemo yesterday went fine, and I celebrated by watching the Italian Job one the laptop my dad brought with for the session. I slept through most of it, because that's what I do on chemo days. The nurse usually gives me some benadryl for one of the chemos they give me, to avoid an allergic reaction to it. That alone makes me sleep, but they also ( Read more... )
