Henry Joseph Feland was born at 2:37pm this afternoon, 8lbs, 3oz, 20.5 inches long.  Baby and mother are both happy and healthy.  That is all.

Huge thanks to tk7602 and dancer for taking a pair of propane heaters and an assortment of tanks off my hands.  Very convenient that they happened to need 'em when I was looking to move them elsewhere.

I just went to Home Depot to look for some stovepipe.  The old pipe connecting our woodstove to our chimney was rusty, so rusty, in fact, that pushing the Shop Vac into it caused it to disintegrate completely.  Thank goodness THAT didn't happen while a fire was going ( Read more... )

We got some damage to the roof during a violent rainstorm in late October, and called in a claim.  The claims adjuster came out, told us the roof was too old to process a claim for, and advised us to either get it patched or get it re-roofed ourselves ( Read more... )

My third-grader (also named Andrew) just got back his first performance assessment test scores.  Both math and verbal are in the 97th percentile, and his reading scores on the Lexile scale fall into the 8th-9th grade reading level--but then we found out that 8th-9th grade is as high as the third-grade test can go.

I'm proud to say I voted for Barack Obama.  I'd be thrilled beyond belief if everyone I knew did the same, but frankly, I'm just happy to see 130 million people turning out to vote.
