In the end though, it's the band-wagoners who really get to me. People who aren't even from Boston or Mass for that matter but act like the Red Sox have been their lords and saviors since the dawn of time.... That wasn't going out to anyone in particular, b/c I do know a handful of you are true Red Sox fans, so don't think I was calling you out or anything.I saw your disclaimer, but it's one thing that drives nuts is getting labeled a bandwagoner since I grew up in NH. Boston was the nearest hub for major league sports, so those were the teams I grew up rooting for

I think winning the world series (especially without the wild card) basically disqualifies a team from being "underdogs" anyway. All professional baseball players are overpaid. What's wrong with rooting for an awesome team? They had a great series and everyone was well-utilized. The Red Sox didn't win by merely spending a lot of money on the best players. There is still so much work and strategy that goes into it. And Jacoby needs to sleep with me. Right now.
Not knowing anything about sports, I can only tell you what Colbert said; it was good that the Rockies lost, but only because they had no right to try to trademark the word “Rocktober”, which is something he apparently celebrates in honor of rock legends (He had a nativity with KISS as the wise men and what appeared to be Janice Joplin and Jimi Hendrix as Mary and Joseph. I’m not sure who baby Jesus was though…I’ll have to figure it out by next year so that the skii-ball shrine can include a small Rocktober nativity)
I completely support this idea. Incidentally, Eric and I have made our own version of the shrine, but lack the demon as the central deity. Instead we have a figure of Mayor Adam West as a stand in.
It's not so much about fans celebrating because by all means enjoy the feeling of winning the World Series, its this constant comparison crap that bandwagonners do. Believe me I have heard enough of "The Red Sox are the New Yankees except they aren't money hungry tyrants like the Yankees". Give me a break. The Red Sox have money and use it just like the Yankees. Bottom line...Baseball is a business. Obviously the Red Sox have been making better decisions with that money than the Yankees these days, but I do not want to hear cliche generic comments about "Evil Empire" from people who follow the Red Sox simply to talk shit not because they love baseball. As a matter of fact, I've been a Yankees fan for 13 years, and I have never rubbed a championship win in the Red Sox fans faces. In essence, enjoy the win and Red Sox fans and Yankee fans can look forward to next season.
