Oh finally, a backstory for Snape that doesn't include a snivelling, cowering Eileen, and an overbearing, abusive asshat Tobias. They're both just messed up people, muddling along. That can be damaging enough.

Poor Severus. He has no idea what's in store for him at Hogwarts, does he?

Gods, I love how you managed this. The dynamics between Eileen and Tobias is just enough, and very believable--enough that they result to the Snape we know today. The cameo appearances are great foreshadowing. I love how the culture of the purebloods come into play, with Eileen playing along like the rest of them. This is really a great fic! Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I was a little worried about my Eileen and Tobias. I wanted to try something different -- messed-up but not too over the top. I also wanted Eileen to be sort of split between her pure-blood prejudices and the rebellious nature that convinced her to marry a Muggle.
