A rational dilemna
The water cooler talk in the office today has been around the Household stimulus package and what people are going to spend it on.
I have a rational objection to the stimulus package (a moral objection would imply morals, which I generally don't have).

Reducing our carbon footprint
A few months ago, the Cunning Plans Dept worked out our carbon footprint using some thingummy on the web, and to be blunt, we suck. The web thingy did break it down into areas and while the house and general living wasn't too bad, our air travel and two cars were seriously in the "not good" category. I also have a new gardening icon courtesy of the CPD's ability to use the macro function on our camera properly and use said ability to capture our first sunflowers in bloom. -

Lazy saturday
I'm spending a lazy afternoon indoors (too damn hot and windy outdoors) doing some inkle weaving and I just switched on the television and Clash of the Titans is on. I used to love this movie and I'd forgotten how craptastic it is. Perfect lazy sewing viewing. Apparently there is a remake planned for 2010. Should be interesting. -

Example of human idiocy
We're having a new building built on campus, which means the ring road around campus occasionally has either a lollypop man or those portable traffic lights on timers.
Yesterday afternoon while leaving work, they had the traffic light on timer set up. I waited. Light turned green and we drove forward. Now about a car length ( Read more... ) -
Vegie patch terracing and fence
The Cunning Plans Dept did a bit more work on the terrace edges of the vegie patch and also put the fence up. The weather wasn't so great so not a lot of work got done.
