I liked it better than I thought I would. I always go into these critically acclaimed kind of films quite skeptical, but this was certainly far better than Crash. Bill Murray is probably my favourite actor, and I'm sooooo delighted with the movies he's been doing the past eight years or so. It's been an impressive run: Rushmore, Lost in Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Cradle Will Rock, Coffee and Cigarettes, and now this. Meh. I liked the book much, much better. Annaud took all of that wonderful gothic mystery and medieval philosophy, took out the best aspects, added some terrible actors, tacked on a Hollywood ending and called it a day. And there was Christian Slater and Sean Connery. Ew.

Holy shit, it's been forever since I've been on this blog. What can I say, I've been busy with other stuff.

Anyway, to keep myself thinking about films (and to force myself to write about cinema more often), I'm going to use (steal) my friend cahiers_du_2006's idea of writing a bit about every single film I watch. That's easier than trying to half-ass my way ( Read more... )
