When I go to the hospital to get irradiated, I have to sit in the waiting room.  The waiting room across the hall from the irradiation machine.

With:

2.  A big TV playing CNN news full blast.

3.  A nun.

Hardly anyone in that room, waiting for irradiation, wants to pay attention to the television, or this nun.  But that's too bad ( Read more... )

Waiting rooms. If I can't turn off the TV, I turn off the sound. If I can't turn the sound off, I turn it down. Just be glad it's not Fox news, which adds insult to irritation. (I don't suppose there's a remote control for the nun...)

But I think Friday I will ask her all about her job.

Good luck with that! There are so many people out there who adopt roles and engage the world in the same old stereotypical ways that work at best so-so for them as well as others, who actually are capable of a normal conversation if somebody else is the one to try to begin it.

If you can't get through, though, I'll surely understand why you'd find another place to wait!

She'll make you feel nutty at first but I want a real conversation with her, in order to find out why she's there and why she's using the techniques she does. I figure that might help her re-think about a lot of it, but being nasty to her wouldn't.

For me, hell would be a waiting room with a loud TV and someone forcing me to have a conversation. Good luck on having a real conversation with the nun.
