CHICKEN POX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apr 11, 2006 02:16

So, it looks like Bhakti has a mild case of chicken pox! She's not overly uncomfortable, but she's not right. She took forever to go to bed, and just woke up, anxiety ridden, asking me to help her. Poor little monkey. She's asleep now, but at least it's just mild ( Read more... )

Yikes, i remember when it seemed like all the kids we knew got them at the same time, I was living in a temple with Megan so she was literally quaranteened in a bedroom poor thing. It's so hard to stop from scratching. To be fair they spread even before someone's aware they have them yet. Was just talking to someone bout how all those illnesses seem to be a time of growth for the kids, they benefit a lot from fighting them. Good luck to mum though ;-)

I suppose it's much better getting it as a small kid, than later on. I had it when I was 8, and it was much worse than Bhakti's. She's still pretty chipper for a sick kid (probably because she got to be cuddled all night).

Oooh that's not very fun. But it is better for them to have it when they're children. Chicken pox is all the nasty when you're a grown up.

I'm praying that the other two get it just as mildly as Bhakti. Nitya gets a lot of anti-bodies from me, but Radhe never gets ANYTHING mildly. She gets something and she gets really really ill. I can't count how many times she's been to the emergency room.

At least it'll be over and done with at an early age, before they're in school.

Poor Bhatki! Unfortunately chicken pox is one of those lovely diseases where you are most contagious BEFORE you feel bad. At least she is young so it shouldn't be too bad (I was nearly hospitalized at 14 with them, my then 4 yr old brother was just cranky).

I really hope this doesn't take too long to go through your house!

I was looking online, and apparently the younger you are, the milder the cp tend to be. Which is a relief. My mum caught them when she was 30, when my great-nanna had shingles, and she was sick for two weeks.

Poor baby. I hope she feels better. CP is so easy to catch, you can be a carrier and never even know it, and like other said, babies pass it on before you even know they have it!

If they others get it, look at it this way, its better now than later.

I know, but if she's still not so great tommorrow, we'll miss out on the last kindy session before the Autumn school hoildays, which really sucks. But, it hasn't spread much, so she could only have it for a couple of days.

I hate seeing my babies feel unwell.

I know, I remember mum having it when I was 5, and she was really, really ill. (And my dad, being as thick as he is, kept asking her what was for dinner....). It seems to be that the ounger kids get it, the milder it usuallt is, so I should find that mother at kindy and hug her. mamatok mentioned that she had friends who have "Chicken Pox Parties" to get all the kids to catch it. Pretty good idea, but I still hate seeing my kids miserable.
