So I've been waxing on to some of you about these books by Jasper Fforde (Thursday Next series) for ages despite not having read any of them. Well I've finally finished the first one, "The Eyre Affair", and I can now say that it is definitely worth the read.

Thought I'd just post an update on my latest activities. I'm now officially a Queensland driver, as of the Friday before last, when I got my Qld driver's license and my Qld number plates. So I'm back home. I had a fantastic time in Brisbane, despite not managing to accomplish my primary objective of finding an interesting coffee table. So I'm sitting in my Hotel room relaxing a little following a pretty hectic couple of days. I left Gladstone about 1:30 pm Wednesday and drove all the way to Brisbane with a short break for 20 mins about half way. I didn't get booked in until 8pm by which time everything was shut. I went to the doctor's surgery this morning and confirmed that I now have an outer ear infection, in the same ear no less. All I need now is an inner ear infection and I'll have the trifecta. Anyway I got some different drops this time that don't seem to hurt like the last ones did, so hopefully I'll be able to sort this out before I go to Brisbane ( Read more... )

Went shopping in Rockhampton and bought a few things, including two really nice prints of pictures by an artist by the name James Luck. They are part of a set of three, but there were only the two, so now I'm on the lookout for the 2nd in the series, which is the Eastern Rosellas.
