Got into Madaba, from QAIA. Appears to be a typical desert town, but with loads of history. One of the guides at the Archaeological Park thought I could speak Arabic, so he went on and on about the Byzantine mosaics. Long Ride

It's been a long holiday. Taking Turkey and Hong Kong into account, I've been travelling for more than five weeks, save for a short 2 night jaunt in Singapore. My brother hates long holidays; I on the other hand, prefer them to be as long as possible. I get this negative feeling every time I approach the end of a good getaway.

Bali

Bali is a good break but I think the next time I go I won't stay in Kuta, Legian or Seminyak. These places, for all their hedonistic worth, are getting pretty jarring. Too many drunk OZs and touts trying to sell you magic mushrooms. I have good memories of my last trip in 2008 but I think I prefer some peace and quiet from now on. This time, I ( Read more... )

Almost at the tail-end of my trip here in Turkey. After hundreds of lira spent, I think this is by far one of the most interesting places I've been to. A melting pot of ancient, medieval and modern culture; a country enmeshed in tradition and Western modernity.
