My asthma has been very bad over the last several months. Walking up even a very slight incline (such as the street I walk up to get to my bus stop every morning) has me coughing my guts out. Any slight exertion is a trigger. Taking my rescue inhaler beforehand doesn't help ( Read more... )

I've been short of breath all evening, tight chest, coughing, but no wheeze. However, when I checked, my peak flow was still high (400, my best is 440), which left me somewhat confused. Is it possible to experience asthma symptoms despite normal peak flow readings?

I followed up on your suggestion to get an action plan and am now proud owner of a nebulizer and an emergency stash of prednisone. In a month of owning it, I've only had to use it 6 times, this week ( Read more... )

Thank you all for the advice. I took the rescue inhaler every 4 hours on the dot through the night and got a hold of the physician on call first thing this morning. As soon as my pharmacy opens (ugh, these things always happen on weekends!) there should be a course of prednisone waiting for me. Hi all. I caught a virus 4 months ago and was diagnosed with reactive airway/bronchial spasms. (I have been under treatment for seasonal allergies for a number of years. I moved to a new city and got a new pulmonologist, who totally pisses me off for several different reasons. One of which is... Well, you see, I have freakishly high peakflows.
