53 days left in Uruguay

but who's counting?

Today I got stuck in an elevator inbetween floors. It wasn't that much fun after the lights went out and I was stuck in a suspended dark box. Eventually some old uruguayan men pryed the doors open and I crawled through a small opening and jumped six feet or so to the floor.
I'm sort of afriad of the elevator in my building now.

My final for Diplomatic and consular law is tonight and then my final for latin american lit is tomorrow morning. On thursday I'll turn in my final paper for Modern lit, but I've finished writing that so it's done. Basically this time tomorrow afternoon I will be on summer vacation. Today is Thanksgiving number three outside the US, and number one in the southern hemisphere. Feel very far away...

Yesterday was my host mom, Dina's 50th birthday. To celebrate there was a big party at a friend's house. It was lovely with amazing food (It's uruguay, so red meet) and lost of wine, beer and champagne and good cake. Plus there was a pool and I actually got a litle sunburnt. Oops. I can't stand the smoke. In Scotland I thought it was bad, but then I never had to live in a house where people smoked, they always went outside, and I was prepared for it when I went to bars until the smoking ban a few months ago. But here, all bets are off. Every person in the house, except me, smokes. The brothers here are chimneys. Maybe it ( Read more... )
