Just finished up my first day at the new part time job at a bookstore and so far enjoying it. The day flew by and my feet hurt, but I suspect that's since my last job was a desk job where I was sitting down 90% of the day. I'll get used to it ( Read more... )

Bah! Phone submitted comment before I was finished. I remember reading that book in 9th grade Advanced English. I'm not much of a history reader so I had to slog through it.

One of the other choices was Snow Flower and the Secret Fan one I've read and recommended, but apparently she "didn't want to read about more Asian girls" which honestly made me think the kid was probably a brat, especially since her dad had to run out to the store at 7pm because she slacked off, but I held my tongue. So maybe that'll teach her.

If I had waited like that my parents would have told me "Tough!" There were no last minute runs to the store for a book. I'd have to do without until we could get to the bookstore. If I did it at all it was only once, but I might have seen it happen to my older brother and knew it would go the same way for me.
