This will make me, on or about Oct. 26, a Foreign Service Officer, Class III (i.e., FS-03). That's more-or-less like going from captain to major; it's crossing the threshold from the entry-level officer (ELO) ranks of FS-06, -05, & -04 to the mid-grade ranks of FS-03, -02, & -01.
