I haven't been reading much SGA recently, but wow, I loved this. Took me a little bit to figure out who Jehan was - when I found myself asking both "who's this guy?" and "where's John?" the penny dropped, and I went back to the beginning with that in mind. Mer was more obvious, and I've read plenty of AUs that used Meredith or Mer, so the adjustment was quicker.
I found the Vala-Jehan-Mer trio really interesting, and I look forward to seeing more of their dynamic; they're such different personalities, and I'm fascinated by how surviving similar traumas brought them together.
I don't know my late-SG-1 canon well enough to see how you're playing against it, but I can see that you are, which is great. I saw what you said in comments about no Rising for this Atlantis expedition, and wow, seeing what's happened to them is going to be a hell of a ride! I'm delighted to hear there will be Teyla, and Sam, and dare I hope for Teyla/Sam? Hee. Is Ronon in the picture? I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Ronon shows up either in late part two or early part three (it'll depend on how I break it up for posting).
Vala/Mer/Jehan is a pretty strong triad. They don't have identical experiences, but they each share things that bind them close. Vala and Jehan were both victims of the goa'uld, prisoners in one way or another who survived; Vala and Mer were both hosts, both against their will; Mer and Jehan are both from Earth and share a bitter conviction they were betrayed or abandoned. They're all exiles, because you can't go home again when you've become the stranger. Sure there are still faultlines, but they're family by choice.
Sometime late in April, barring complications. With a long story sometimes I have to jump ahead and write something farther along the plot time line so that I can foreshadow/reference it accurately, which slows me down with getting the next part out.
Space Pirates are definitely one of the all time cool ideas, no matter how many people write them. Plus, if anyone doesn't know my thing for putting John and Vala in the same story and likely the same bed at some point, they haven't been paying attention.
