Huzzah, for I have obtained a fabled "Real Job"! I will (from around January) be working in the Attorney General's department. APS level 4! Squee and yay! This is pretty awesome, although I need to get my security clearance and stuff sorted out in the near future and I'm not sure yet when I will be starting work

Why don't you like backpackers?

This question could best be answered through experience. I recommend that you stay in an 8-bed mixed-gender dorm for a month with a variety of backpackers. Make sure you get up quietly at 6am every day for brain-intensive study. After a month, write me a short essay on how you feel about people leaving their stuff all over the floor to the point where you can barely reach your bed, come home at 4am every morning whilst everyone else is asleep and switch on the light to more easily conduct your loud mobile-phone conversation, spray themselves with rancid-smelling deoderant in a poorly ventelated room every ten minutes, either empty a saucepan full of rice/spaghetti/? into the sink so that others need to unclog cold icky food to wash their dishes or don't bother taking said cooking implements off the table where you ate out of them, and are rude and culturally insensitive individuals.

Well, I know a backpacker who would be a beacon, nay, a shining star compared the such backpackers. (He's hiking the Appalachian Trail, Maine to Georgia, all 2100+ miles of it, in bits and pieces. Also, he's a generally great guy.)

But I can see where your opinion might be soured. :)
