So we're back home! I have to say, it's great being back, even if only for the wonderful bed and shower. But there is also the cat! And all my books in one place! And constant internet access! Travelling is fun, but it is nice to be comfortable again.

Oscar and I are currently in the town of Flåm, at one end of a big fjord (a steep, narrow valley with a river at the bottom carved during several ice ages by a glacier or two). We just stepped off a cruise through the fjord and into the screaming, bitingly cold and very wet wind to have a cup of Hot Chocolate of Evil Doom. Ew ( Read more... )

Hi people. We are now in Norway, not too much time to post though. We took the ship from Copenhagen on Tuesday evening. It was pretty nice, especially as we spoilt ourselves and got our own cabin. Oscar especially liked going outside and looking at the waves and stuff. It was his first time on a big ship, and he liked seeing 'the might of the ocean ( Read more... )

Oscar´s birthday was on Friday. I bought him an iPod Nano on Thursday and he spent all of Friday listening to music, which was very nice :) Aside from that, we went on a train quest to find a winery in southern Switzerland, which mostly resulted in us getting rained on. After much stuffing around, I finally managed to log into the University Admissions Centre online thing to check up on my application to keep studying at the ANU. I've been accepted!! So early next year I will start studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Middle Eastern and Central Asian Studies. If I do well enough, I can transfer later to the ( Read more... )
