I downloaded an episode of City Homicide the other day, the third one of this season so I'm a little behind, and I just got through watching it. You know what I love about this show? The dialogue. In one scene a female cop says, "I'm scared" and a male counterpart replies, "yeah, we're all packing it."

Hurricane Ike has passed and we made it through remarkably unscathed. It was as windy as all get out, but nothing came through the windows, the roof wasn't peeled off or anything, the only damage we suffered was to a few roof shingles, and there are more leaves than water in the pool, so nothing serious.

Storms a'coming
I've been pretty flippant the past few days about Hurricane Ike. It's the fourth hurricane that's ventured near Houston in the past few months and despite dire warnings and apocalyptic predictions the first three were complete duds, barely made a dent in the weather.

I just ordered our first Chinese takeaway over here, and perusing the menu I couldn't locate my standard go to dish, the one I always order, so I ask the lady on the phone:

Bureaucracy is doing my head in
I got a call from from the nurse at the kids new school to say that there's a problem with my 5 year old's immunisation. In Texas the MMR vaccine has to be given when a child is 12 months or older, and they have a four day grace period, so you could get it done no earlier than four days before the first birthday.
