Around the City |
Events There are a lot of NPCs in Axiom Nexus. Mostly, they represent natives to the city who have a large enough role that they appear from time to time. NPCs are sometimes played by NPC Wranglers, who are part of our staff. NPC Wranglers are not moderators, but they do talk to the mods often, and usually have some insight into the metaplot.
GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS
These are the mechs who truly run this Cybertron. They are great political figureheads, but have little to do with the workings of the Axiom Nexus Offworld except as a controversial issue to include in their agenda.
Designation: Optimus Prime
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: Head of the Cybertronian High Senate
Known Data: Formerly a young archivist, Optimus Prime believed in the strength of the system and sought to purge the corruption that plagued it. Through persistence and inspirational speeches, reminding the Nexus of the need for hope and unity, he eventually earned the attention of a military mech by the name of Megatron.
The pair began to work together, ascending the ranks until they were in a position to uncover the underhanded dealings of Sentinel Prime and an entity known as the 'Liege Maximo.' After the devastation of the ensuing confrontation, Optimus Prime and Megatron rose up to take control of the government, steering it into a new Golden Age.
Ever an idealist, Optimus is the leader of the Senate and far more compassionate than his military counterpart. Nonetheless, the pair work well together, and Optimus continues to preach civility and fairness of government - Principles he has thus far, successfully been able to maintain in Axiom Nexus.
He is the bearer of the Matrix of Leadership of his dimension.
Played by:
Designation: Megatron
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: Head of the Transtech Military
Known Data: Megatron is the opposite side of the government, standing alongside Optimus Prime. Where Prime is face of the Senate, Megatron represents the Nexus' military might.
He feels that there is no cost too great in defending Cybertron and its citizens. If heinous crimes are the price of their safety, Megatron would willingly accept that. He will not hesitate to go underground, beyond the law to achieve his goals.
While their partnership has so far been a successful one, the relationship between Megatron and Optimus Prime has become increasingly strained. While the both share a mutual respect for one another, their opinions frequently clash. Megatron has already accepted that there will likely be an eventual confrontation between himself and Optimus, and has even begun preparations for such an event.
Easily one of the most powerful of the Transtechs, Megatron possesses weaponry that far surpasses that of any other and is knowledgeable in the tactics and fighting styles of multiple dimensions. He is a lethal opponent, and his army follows him without hesitation.

PROCESSING AND ADMINISTRATION
These are the mechs that work in Central Processing in Zone 1--controlling the influx of personages unlucky enough to fall into universal bleeds. They are responsible for saving you from floating in infinite limbo, and also are responsible for the reams of paperwork you'll need to fill out to have clearance, here. Next, please.
Designation: Silverbolt
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: New Arrivals Coordinator
Known Data: Silverbolt is tasked with the stressful position of tracking and welcoming new arrivals in the Nexus.
Along with his team, he tracks and catalogues the various travellers and universe streams of the multiverse, guiding those who have strayed off course safely into the city. Utilizing advanced equipment, Silverbolt is able to identify threats before they are brought into Axiom, and typically, prevent them from entering.
For those who have already had the (mis)fortune of reaching Axiom Nexus, he is also responsible for Processing and even the occasional greeting, should you prove yourself a 'being of interest.'
Played by:
frogwolf Designation: Nitpick
Universal stream: Unknown
Known Data: One of those working in processing, Nitpick is just as thrilled to be there as most of those being processed. Old, cranky; he only wants to reach the cycle quota without any delays.
While he is clearly not a Transtech, he is no more sympathetic to the stories of newcomers - Just fill out your paperwork, and get out of his queue.
Played by: N/A
Designation: Doppler
Universal stream: Transtech
Known Data: A Transtech employed by processing. Like most others employed there, he has little time for nonsense - So long as you do your required paperwork in a timely fashion, he is happy. He wants to keep the line moving, meet his quota, and collect his bonus, alright?
Next in line, please.

Designation: Flareup
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1
Known Data: A spunky Southern femme from the Primax universe, Flareup's original position was that of demolition's specialist. Unfortunately, considering her job title, many found her cheerful disposition somewhat... odd.
Thankfully, she found a better fit in the multi-dimensional hub, Axiom Nexus, settling into the role of police officer. She can be seen around the city, enforcing the rules and complaining about the audacity of designing a robot with high heels.
While sworn to secrecy, Flareup was involved in an unnamed incident involving three Malgian travellers, including an Optimus Prime and an illegal Primaxian Megatron. After an unfortunate encounter with the Transtech Shockwave and the subsequent deportation of the Malgians, Flareup was ordered never to speak of it again.
Occasionally, when resources are scarce, she will take on Andromeda's role as reporter.
Played by:
travelistaa Designation: Scattorshot
Universal stream: Aurex / Cybertron
Known Data: Formerly a computer game programmer, Scattorshot is no lover of conflict.
In fact, he actually feels that his former victories were the result of fluke rather than talent. As such, he maintains a set of rather impressive armaments, in the hopes that if he packs enough firepower, he might be able to avoid the wrath of karma a little while longer. While some might regard this nervous nature as being pessimistic, Scattorshot would insist he simply has a firm grasp on reality.
While he once lived in the Aurexian cluster, Scattorshot has come to enjoy the relative peacefulness of the Nexus, and has since taken up the role of tour guide. He is one of those assigned to inform mechs of the rules and goings-on of Axiom, and often the first friendly faceplate mechs see outside of Central Processing.

OFFWORLD SECURITY AND POLICING
Once you have entered the Nexus, these are the mechs who (try) to keep you safe, or who give you that ticket for parking by a fire-hydrant, or who investigate and deport murderers. ANOSA is run by Transtechs, and strictly enforces down to Zone 3, where the Freelance Police Legion of Offworlders takes up the cause down to Zone 6. After that, you're on your own.
Designation: Cheetor
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: Security Administration Commander
Known Data: Originally an up-and-coming officer in the Transtech Security forces, Cheetor found himself ousted when key witnesses in a case against a corrupt Senator suddenly vanished.
Despite the setback, his steadfast and sensible leadership eventually gained him the position of Head of the Axiom Nexus Security Administration: Offworld Branch. He consistently monitors the three upper zones for illegal activity and offers assistance to the Freelance Police Legion down to Zone 6 whenever he is able.
However, he's significantly understaffed and those budget requests keep getting tied up in bureaucracy...
... Making him a very tired, overworked feline.
Played by:
redfirelight Designation: Airazor
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1 (Beast Era)
Known Data: Airazor is in a unique position - Not only is she an Inspector for the Axiom Nexus Security Administration, but she is also a part of the offworlder's Freelance Police Legion. This is rare, even in the Nexus, allowing her opportunities and affording her a certain authority that most do not have. She has jurisdiction even in the lower Zones, where ANOSA is incapable of enforcing.
That said, she is not without flaws - She's a frequent visitor to Widow's Cafe Cybertronian, located just at the edge of the Heap. Not only can she get her regular energon, but she can listen in on the gossip and catch details on cases that she might otherwise miss.
Since coming to the Nexus, she now sports an entirely Cybertronian form. There are still design remnants of her previous beastmode, but the organic nature has been stripped.
Played by:
frogwolf Designation: Detectas
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1
Known Data: Special Investigative Officer Detectas is a Mini-Con with a rather intriguing ability - He can make himself nearly invisible to the optic. Without his cloaking, he's barely visible - but once he activates the systems, he is nearly imperceptible to the average sensory net.
While very proud of this skill, Detectas doesn't share much about his personal life. He focuses primarily on his job, and does whatever is in his power to get the job done.
Played by: N/A
Designation: Prowl
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1 (IDW)
Known Data: An excellent strategist, Prowl is a stickler for the rules. Relying on reason and mathematical precision, he harbours an intense dislike for disorder, and constantly demands that procedures be done by the book - Even if it means going around the rules to have that happen.
Surprisingly ruthless in his cold logic, Prowl has done some questionable things in the past, including secretly re-programming the war hero Kup in order to get his point across.
... Of course, none now in ANOSA know about that little incident - Instead, they only see the image he wishes to portray: A dedicated, logical Autobot, with a strategic processor and seemingly endless patience.
Played by:
frogwolf Designation: Cliffjumper
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1 (IDW)
Known Data: Originating from one of the Primaxian timelines, Cliffjumper is always ready for a fight; despite his small stature, he's a brawler at spark, proving himself skilled in both melee and ranged combat. His bad habit of shooting first quickly earned him a position on the infiltration team, rather than a position that would have him dealing with people.
His cocky attitude and the chip in his shoulder make him difficult to get along with, but he is a good mech at spark... mostly. Cliffjumper just... doesn't like traitors. And since everyone has the capacity to be a traitor, it makes his job easier to just hate everyone.
The only thing he hates more than traitors are Decepticons - So if you're hoping for fairness from ANOSA and you aren't an Autobot, it would be worth your while to find another mech.
Played by:
travelistaa Designation: Scooter
Universal stream: Transtech
Known Data: A young Transtech, Scooter is a part of the security force. He is usually tasked with the unglorified duty of guarding the Transwarp Complex.
He is extremely friendly and attempts to socialize as best he can, blissfully oblivious to whether others find his attempts irritating. All he wants is a friend, maybe someone to go for a nice can of oil with, when he's off-duty. :(
Played by:
frogwolf Designation: Cy-Kill
Universal stream: Transtech
Known Data: Scooter's surly partner and another of the security force. He has far less patience than the unfortunate Spark who works along side him - He is quiet and irritable, and wants nothing more than a re-assignment.
Played by:
MILITARY INTELLIGENCE
These Transtechs work to keep the entirety of Cybertron safe. Although equipped to handle external threats, their greatest enemies often lie within, leaving them constantly vigilant. Offworlders that find themselves on INTEL's radar need to watch out--it means they're not only a threat to the Nexus, but to all of Cybertron...
Designation: Starscream
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: Intelligence Directorate
Known Data: Transtech Starscream is ambition (FINALLY) tempered with subtlety, using pure bureaucracy and verbose snares as the tools to his eventual ascension. So far, he's not been doing a bad job of it - Maintaining his position as Intelligence Directorate despite certain incidents that are better left unnamed.
Although he has the tendency to promote consorts into positions that will do him the most good (or the least harm), he's still forced to work with the Transtech Prowl - A position that neither of them have much patience for. Even so, he's remarkably good at what he does.
It would be best to avoid confrontation with him, though - There's rumors that he can see through any lie. That could be a potentially terrifying ability in a Starscream.
Also, he may or may not enjoy tea with Shockwave on a semi-regular basis...
Played by:
Designation: Prowl
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: Assistant Intelligence Directorate
Known Data: A long time friend of Optimus Prime, Prowl was originally a high-level agent in the Intelligence Directorship. He has served as a trusted advisor to Optimus since he was a Senator, and has always managed to keep a clean record - Even when forced to deal with not-so-clean business.
When Optimus was passed the Matrix, Prowl was appointed to work alongside Starscream as Intelligence Director. He is less than thrilled with the position, however, his perfectionistic tendencies and thorough nature keep his new partner in line.
Ever cautious, Prowl liaises with all of the agents personally in an effort to be sure that no one has been compromised. He has re-organized the entire department, single-handedly increasing the speed and accuracy of their reports - Even through Starscream's bureaucracy.
Not very well armed, the majority of Prowl's upgrades are focused on increasing computing power. While he may only possess low-level lasers, he is capable of analyzing data that even other Transtechs would require an entirely separate computer to decode.

MENACING AND FOREBODING MILITARY SCIENCES
The future is bright on Transtech Cybertron, and the Military Sciences division is intent on keeping it that way. It pursues advancements of both aggressive and defensive natures, which often includes ways of improving the physical makeup of the Transtechs, themselves. There is little that Megatron won't Authorize in the protection of Cybertron so long as the bad stuff isn't public, and as long as he keeps getting results...
Designation: Shockwave
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: Subcommander (Third Rank) of Military Sciences Division
Known Data: Shockwave is probably the single most intelligent mech on Cybertron.
Under Jhiaxus, Shockwave played an extremely vital role in developing the technology required for the Transcendence; he understands the inner workings of Transtechs and, utilizing that information, has built himself a form both elegant and logical.
The only thing preventing him from leading the Science Division himself is his involvement with the Liege Maximo incident - A particularly dark piece of Transtech history. When he was recruited, he was considered a prisoner of war thanks to his experiments; in fact, if not for Megatron's interference, he likely would have been executed. Megatron felt that his talents could be of use to their race as a whole - At least, with the proper direction.
Now, he is kept on a tight leash - Fortunately, he does not allow this to prevent him from pursuing further advancements for the good of Cybertron... No matter how morally ambiguous the means may be.
Despite his past transgressions, Shockwave is a well-respected individual among Transtech society, and he does his best to keep an outward front of beneficial science for the masses...
Who would believe there is something sinister occurring beneath?
Shockwave has also created himself a humanoid facsimile by the name of 'Logan Praxis,' who serves as his face in the Nexus. For all intents and purposes, the two appear completely unconnected - to both residents and Transtechs alike.
Played by:
AXIOM NEXUS NEWS COVERAGE
There are plenty of public vid-channels one can tune into with their communicators, displaying everything from reality shows to histories to news. The News Feed itself has the highest priority, and in times of extreme danger it will pop up on screens everywhere to keep the Nexus informed.
Designation: Andromeda
Universal stream: Transtech
Known Data: Andromeda is the face of Axiom's local news station (ANN), and her voice is known to all who have spent anytime in the city. She is the host of the 'Around Cybertron' newsfeed, and has the slightly disturbing ability to maintain composure when speaking about even the most heinous of events.
Played by:
travelistaa CIVILIANS AND BUSINESS OWNERS
These are the faces commonly seen around the city--they're easy to get a hold of, easy to talk to, easy to make deals with or provide jobs. Most of them have been established for some time, and aren't in danger of being deported or have become too useful a part of the Nexus in their stay. It's good to see other Offworlder's being successful though, isn't it?
Designation: Cryotek
Universal stream: Transtech
Position: Proprietor of The Blue Deployer
Known Data: Once the successful owner of an underground operation running among "legitimate" Transtech society, the reasons for Cryotek's departure remain a mystery. Rumor has it that his downfall was closely linked with the rise of Megatron - But these are rumors best left unpursued.
No matter the reason, Cryotek has since established himself on Level 29 of Zone 6, running a seedy bar, The Blue Deployer. He manages to keep his cold claws deeply entrenched in everyone's business - There is very little he does not know about, or at least, can't find out. He's the go-to mech for anyone desiring a classy drink or a good drop on their enemy.
He's even cooperative with the authorities - They do have such a difficult time successfully pinning crimes on him, despite the fact he has been consulted with questioned several times by Cheetor.
Oh, and do be sure to try one of his Polonium Spritzers, won't you?
Played by: N/A
Designation: Backslash
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1 (Beast Era)
Known Data: A longtime associate of the Cryotek in his own universe, it didn't take much convincing for Backslash to take up employment with his Transtech counterpart upon his arrival in Axiom Nexus. He mostly does grunt work, such as cargo delivery and unloading, at the Blue Deployer - At least, that's what it's listed as on the books.
A criminal through and through, Backslash was originally built to be a member of the Predacon Police force; a career cut short when he took the life of his indoctrination officer.
Afterward, the Predacon took to the streets where he quickly earned a reputation as a smooth criminal, as skilled with his words as he is with his weapons. Despite his specialization in killing, he has yet to actually be caught, leaving his criminal record spotless and Backslash himself untouchable.
Played by: N/A
Designation: Crystal Widow
Universal stream: Unknown
Position: Proprietor of Widow's Cafe Cybertronian
Known Data: Crystal Widow is the solemn mistress of the Widow's Cafe Cybertronian, an establishment on the edge of the Heap where the down and out can go to drown their sorrows with Energon.
Thanks to the loss of her lover, her demeanour is less than pleasant, her hopeless and melancholy attitude quite fitting of the dreary surroundings. The Transtechs named her a 'being of interest' due to her unique abilities, and as such, refuse to let her leave the Nexus. She's long since given up fighting their decision, instead choosing to serve others who are down on their luck with her cafe.
While she will not readily share the information, Crystal Widow has the mysterious ability to manipulate Energon. Using it, she can not only heal others and stem the flow of fluids from a wound, but she can crystalize it into various weapon-like shapes to be used in combat.
Played by:
travelistaa Designation: Swindle, Swindle, and Swindle.
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1 (Cartoon), Primax / Generation 2, Primax / Generation 1 (Comic)
Known Data: Why swindle yourself when three times the Swindle is three times the profit?
Operating one of the most prestigious and lucrative of parts stores out of the low-rent, this trio beleives everybody's profit should be their profit - Or is it the other way around? Either way, they formed a fast partnership, and Swindle, Swindle, and Swindle's was born.
If there's something you need, you can find it here! They're even (mostly) legit!
Just don't think you can swindle a Swindle, because they do employ quite a number of mechs for the express purpose of 'collecting' on any debts.
To that end, though, they are one of the biggest low-zone employers, so if you're any good with sales or R+D, there might be work for you...
Played by:
Edaigoa Designation: Bosch
Universal stream: Primax / Generation 1 (Cartoon)
Known Data: Galactic traveler and curios expert, Bosch was barely even stunned to end up in the Nexus one day - Even if he was a bit upset to find that his ship hadn't materialized with him.
He took all this good-naturedly though, and immediately began searching for the next "get rich quick" scheme... Until he stumbled upon the idea of the Axiom Nexus Classifieds and found himself a rich and legitimate businessman. Anyone can subscribe to the Classifieds for a marginal fee, and he gets to charge a premium to the Swindles so they can run the Black Market beneath its cover.
All in all, it's not a bad gig - And anything that feeds the gambling itch is worth the work he puts into it...
