Axiom Nexus is a city on Cybertron, a world of intelligent alien mechanoids. Specifically, it is a very old Cybertron, one which has never known war, and which has entered into an enlightened age of high technology.

However, this universe's unique location opens it up to cross-bleed from other universes. Lots of cross-bleed. Travelers arrive every day from millions of other universes. The Transcendant Technomorphs (TransTechs for short) native to this Cybertron have a specific system for dealing with these offworlders - mostly, confining them to a specific section of the city until they can figure out what to do with them. Their noninterference laws keep them from sending you back with too much knowledge of their world, and at the same time they really don't want you dirty "lowtechs" and organics in their city.

Your characters, however, are unique in this mess of offworld travelers. You alone have been chosen as part of a study by Shockwave, the leader of the Menacing and Foreboding Military Sciences division of the Axiom Nexus Academy of Science. Not that you know this, of course. It's just that your ID bolt - that little subdermal chip (if you're an organic), or that thing attached to your outer plating that you can't take off (if you're not) - has a tracking device that lets him monitor your activities for scientific purposes.

More interestingly, if your first name is Megatron or your last name is Prime (Primus forbid you're somehow both), you've gotten into the city despite there being strict laws against you. Shockwave wants, no, needs you for his plans, and he'll do whatever it takes to get you - even if that means going around the law.

Welcome to Axiom Nexus, traveler. Going home? Not likely, given that you're a Person of Interest. Sure, wait in line for five hours for your forms so you can apply for an exit visa. It might process. If you're lucky. In the meantime, make yourself at home. You're going to be here for a very long time.
