“Siwon! Here! Take my hand!” Jaejoong reached forward and grasped Siwon's hand tightly, hauling him upwards and into his room. The two of them fell into a heap onto Jaejoong's room's wooden floor.
“Aish! I feel like as if I am re-enacting a cliché movie scene,” Siwon said as he dusted himself off, “You know where the lead actor climbs into the lead actress's room through the window to elope with her because her parents frown upon their marriage.”
“Now, now, how could this possibly a re-enactment? Firstly, we don't love each other. At least, not in that way. Secondly, you aren't here to elope with me because you are here to entertain me. Thirdly...well, there is no thirdly. But anyway, there you have it! See, no re-enactment of any cliché movie scene whatsoever,” Jaejoong explained as Siwon rolled his eyes at his best friend.
“Alright, alright! I get it, Rapunzel,” Siwon gestured at Jaejoong to stop ranting. “However, please do explain why you are locked up in your room and why I have to use such life-threatening methods to meet you.”
“Umma grounded me and locked me up in my room!” Jaejoong complained, plopping down onto his bed while pulling Siwon along with him.
“And why...?” Siwon prompted.
“She caught me kissing Dongwook-hyung!” Jaejoong huffed and Siwon eyed him pointedly, almost as if saying it-is-obviously-your-fault. However, Jaejoong paid him no mind and continued. “You know I have been crushing on him for the past two years and getting a chance to kiss him was like a dream come true but Umma had to crush my dreams to pieces. Dongwook Hyung probably thinks of me as a child and annoyance.”
Dongwook worked in a local smithy down the road. He made almost everything for the town citizens from tools to kitchen utensils. Jaejoong had been 16 when he realized that he had not seen anyone as handsome as the smith. Jaejoong was not the only one smitten by Dongwook's charm and looks, almost all the town females felt a certain attraction to the male. Even his sisters fell prey to his alluring face. However, Jaejoong knew that no one was as head over heels as himself. For most of time, Jaejoong admired the well-built man from afar, never having the guts to go up to him. He did talk to Dongwook but only when making a purchase, which wasn't really counted as talking. Just recently, Dongwook and him had become friendlier probably because of the frequent visits to the smithy. Dongwook had obviously been the one initiate the conversation and in no time, Jaejoong had started chatting almost as if they were old pals. Guess luck must have been on Jaejoong's side when he meekly confessed to Dongwook that he might just like him, giving Dongwook the permission to sweep Jaejoong into his arms to plant a soul-searing kiss upon Jaejoong's lips.
“Umma couldn't have chosen a worse time to storm in.” Jaejoong sighed. “I thought maybe Dongwook hyung would confess after the kiss but Umma clearly scared him off by saying that he is always to be 10 miles away from her baby boy. When would she understand that I am no longer her baby boy? I am 18 years old now.” Jaejoong buried his head between his hands.
“She says it for your own good.” Siwon sympathized. “She wouldn't want you running off with an uncivilized guy. Not that I am saying that Dongwook hyung is uncivilized, it's just that your family has a reputation of a having the best spouses for their children and you are no exception. I'm sure that Mrs. Kim wants the best for you. Afterall, you are her only boy.”
Jaejoong scowled at Siwon, yet not disagreeing with him at the same time.
“Jaejoong! Are you alright in there? I heard some voices!” Boa's voice came through the door. Jaejoong's eyes widened, panic filling his form. He looked over at Siwon who was in the same state as him. Good boy Siwon hardly caused any trouble. It was only Jaejoong who dragged him down with him.
“You have to get out of here!” Jaejoong whispered. Siwon nodded and swung his legs over the windowsill. Muttering a quiet prayers to the heavens above, dearly hoping that he wouldn't fall to his death, Siwon began his dangerous journey to the ground.
“Sorry for the trouble, wonnie!” Jaejoong whispered. “I will see you tonight at the park!”
He was literally hanging out of window, whispering to Siwon, hoping the boy wouldn't hurt himself. But Siwon was known as the all mighty horse Siwon for a very good reason. Jaejoong let out a sigh of relief as Siwon reached the bottom without a scratch. Siwon gave him a sweet smile and waved goodbye.
“Jaejoong!” A yell from his room, almost sent him over but he managed to stabilize himself by grabbing onto the windowsill. “What are you thinking hanging yourself from the window?”
Jaejoong grabbed his chest, trying to calm his thumping heart. His sister's loud voice had almost given him a heart attack.
“Gosh, you really scared me there. I thought I was going to fall over.” Jaejoong said as he wiped the cold sweat that had form on his forehead.
“Sorry!” Boa meekly replied, sticking out her tongue. “But, what were you doing there? Trying to sneak off?”
“No!” Jaejoong protested. “I was...I was...just trying to the see the garden, I was bored anyway.”
Boa eyed him skeptically, not really buying his little tale.
“Whatever, just making sure you weren't landing yourself into more trouble.” Boa said, brushing his situation off. “Anyway, umma said to get yourself ready, the Jungs would be arriving for dinner. Try to look prim and proper alright? Umma said that we have to look presentable. The Jungs are honourable folks, they would have some kind of expectations.”
Boa walked over and tidied Jaejoong's wild hair. She planted a kiss on his head and drew him into a unexpected hug.
“Umma was very upset with what you did, you know?” She said into his ear. “Even Yoonji unnie was very disappointed. Same goes with Ara unnie and Hyojoo unnie. Just be glad that news has reached Appa yet or you'd be in for a punishment.”
She let him go and caressed his cheek. He was, after all, her beloved younger brother, someone she was really fond of. Jaejoong getting into trouble hurt her heart but something told her that the actual drama was just about to start. She just did not want to see her brother getting hurt.
“Alright then. I will leave you to get ready.” She said as she turned around to leave the room. “Be sure to be on your best behavior, dongseng!” She waggled her finger at him.

The Kim's living room was nosier than usual. The Jungs had arrived minutes ago and were settling into the cozy room. The Kim ladies blushed prettily at the sight of the three dashing men, Mr. Jung, Jung Yunho and Jung Changmin, greeting them politely by bowing. The men bowed back, impressed at the legendary beauties of the Kim household and their supreme mannerism.
“A very lovely house you have,” Mr. Jung complimented as he took his seat, feeling the warmth of the homely aura of the family.
“It is but a humble house, my lord,” Mrs. Kim answered, accepting the compliment tactfully.
“And amazing and well-maintained garden as well,” Yunho had observed. “I would love to see it.”
“Oh! My daughters and myself work hard to maintain it.” Mrs. Kim said. “Ara darling, would you like to show Yunho-shi to the gardens.”
“Of course, umma,” Ara agreed as she stood up to show Yunho around. However, before she could even move towards him, he stood up and gestured her to return to her seat.
“I wouldn't want to trouble you, Ara-shi,” Yunho declined politely. “Do you mind if I explore the garden by myself? I would like to take few minutes to enjoy the evening's beauty.”
“Of course, of course, do as you please.” Mr. Kim urged. Yunho bowed politely to his company before stepping outside the house to enjoy the evening's cool air.

Jaejoong grasped onto the ladder tightly as he slowly made his way down. His foot felt for the next step below him before lowering his body. He was a few feet above the ground when he felt his foot slip as he promptly fell into the bushes below.
His alarmed yell had gained the attention of someone nearby as he heard someone ask if anyone was there. He heard footsteps drawing closer, dried leaves crunching under the person's feet.
“Are you alright?” a unfamiliar voice asked.
Jaejoong looked up from his position to the face of the person whom he had presumed was a male judging by the voice. Jaejoong was shocked to find a dashing man look at him with worry and curiosity in his eyes. Soft, spiked brown hair framed his small, angular face with masculine features, which possibly made any man green with envy.
Similar thoughts flooded Yunho's mind only that they were just a little different. As for Yunho, the pale face that was illuminated by the dim garden light was probably the most beautiful face he had ever seen. Forget the beauty of the Kim daughters, this person here outshone them all. Black doe eyes, ruby lips and a pale complexion. A description of standard beauty but this beauty was enhanced by the person's stunning features. Features that almost made him look like a foreigner. But then again, this kind of beauty was probably rare to find on earth.
Yunho shook his head, physically trying to clear his thoughts and snap back to reality. He offered his outstretched hand to Jaejoong, wanting to help him up. Jaejoong took his hand without even thinking. The attraction between the two was so instant that their eyes had been locked since the moment they had set their eyes on each other.
“I'm Jung Yunho,” Yunho introduced, shaking their still connected hands. Jaejoong's eyes widened, it finally clicked who this person was.
“I'm...I'm...” Jaejoong stammered, unable to form any words. “I've...I've got to go.” Jaejoong turned, wanting to escape but he forgot that their hands were still linked.
As Yunho saw Jaejoong trying to leave, his grip on Jaejoong's hand became tighter, not wanting to let go.
“At least tell me your name,” Yunho desperately wanted to know this fair creature's name. However, Jaejoong only continued to tug at his hand. Yunho smiled at the boy's persistence, finally letting go of his hand. Caught off-guard, Jaejoong lost his balance and fell unceremoniously to the ground, hitting one the garden tools, sending them clanging against each other.
“I'm sorry!” Yunho rushed over to fallen boy. “I didn't mean to let you fall,”
“Is everything alright?” A voice called out to them. “I heard some noise.”
Yoonji soon appeared next to them, concern evident on her face. “Jaejoongie! Are you alright?” She rushed over upon seeing her younger brother lying to the ground.
“I'm alright. Just fell.” Jaejoong said as he stood up, brushing dirt off his shirt. Yoonji inspected him for any injury whilst quickly brushing off the soil that was stuck to his clothes and leaves in his hair.
“I'm sorry for the trouble, Yunho-shi,” Yoonji apologized, grabbing Jaejoong's hand and pulling him behind her. “This is my younger brother, Kim Jaejoong.”
“It's a pleasure to meet you, Jaejoong-shi,” Yunho smirked at the young boy, making him cower further behind his sister, a shy smile spreading over his face.
-
Yoonji, Jaejoong and Yunho made their way back into the house as the rest of them looked up to see if anything had gone wrong.
“Jaejoong!” Mrs. Kim was appalled at her son's sudden appearance but more so at his state of dress and hygiene. She quickly went over to him, brushing off the remaining dirt that was stuck to him. “I do apologize for my son's behaviour.”
“It's not a problem, Mrs. Kim,” Mr. Jung smiled at the pouting boy. “He reminds of my own boys when they were younger. Always stirring up some kind of mischief.”
Once everyone was back to their respective seats, Mrs. Kim nudged Jaejoong to introduce himself. “Erm...Good everning, Mr. Jung, I am Kim Jaejoong,” He stood up and bowed to the eldest Jung while he nodded to the two younger ones, his eyes lingering just a little too long at Jung Yunho.
The Jungs were quite amused by the youngest of the Kim household as they exchanged glances with each other.
-
“Appa, you must go to Mr. Kim and tell him that I wish to pay court to son, Jaejoong,” Yunho said as they sat in their carriage to return to their temporary house.
“Decided already, Yunho?” Mr. Jung asked with a twinkle in his eyes. “It has only been one meeting and neither of you spoke a lot to each other.”
“I don't know, Appa,” Yunho said. “I just...I just...know that he is the right one.”
“Or he is just the most beautiful one.” Changmin cut in amused at his brother's besotted look. Yunho blushed at his brother's comment and playfully thwacked him.
“He did turn out to be much more beautiful than either of sisters, that's for sure,” Mr. Jung couldn't help but agree. “Though, I wouldn't mind having either of them as my daughter-in-laws.”
“So, appa, what do you say?” Yunho persisted.
“I would be sure to speak to Mr. Kim regarding this,” Mr. Jung said, easing his tense son.

The next day...
“He was so handsome, wasn't he?” Ara giggled into her hands as she dreamily sighed at Yunho's image in her head.
“Looks like someone is in love!” Hyojoo teased, flicking her sister's forehead. Ara scowled at Hyojoo before rubbing her abused forehead.
“Both of you sound like premature girls.” Yoonji reprimanded. The children of the family were gathered in the kitchen, wanting to the prepare the evening's meal together. Boa was silently stirring the pot of soup thoroughly amused at her sister's antics while Yoonji was busy cutting the meat. All the while, instead of helping, Hyojoo and Ara had been continuously teasing each other about the previous day's events. Meanwhile, Jaejoong sat at the table, knife in his hand which was supposed to chop the vegetables yet he just sat there staring into space.
“Boojae,” Ara said as she placed her hands onto his shoulder, shaking him out of his reverie. “Something on your mind...or perhaps someone on your mind?” She teased.
“Noona!” Jaejoong pouted as he buried blushing face into his hands. This immediately gained the attention of all four sisters.
“Jaejoongie!” They exclaimed as they came to surround him.
“You like him, don't you?”
“Careful little brother, I think you might just a little too young for this.”
“Uwah, you two would make the cutest pair ever!”
Before the sisters could continue interrogating and teasing their brother, their father entered the house with an announcement to make.
“I come bearing good news, children!” his voice boomed.
The five of them rushed towards the living room.
“You bring news from the Jungs, don't you?” Ara eagerly asked. A simple nod from Mr. Kim caused them all to burst into giggles.
“Well, Jung Yunho wishes to pay court to our little Jaejoogie!”
It was then the world fell beneath Jaejoong's feet.
