“I am!” Jaejoong protested. “Appa said yes to Jung Yunho's courtship proposal!”
“What's on your mind then? Aren't you happy that such a handsome man like Yunho is willing to court you?” Siwon asked as they two sat next to the scenic lake that glimmered like thousands of diamonds under the sunlight. This was their usual meeting spot and had been since they were mere toddlers. Peace and serenity. The place offered solace to a soul.
“You don't understand! I've been trying to get Dongwook hyung's attention since forever and now that he has given that to me as well as a mind-blowing kiss, Jung Yunho jumps into the perfect picture with a stupid proposal which my Appa so kindly agreed to.” Jaejoong complained. “Now, don't get me wrong. He is handsome and all but I don't even know what's he like! I've known Dongwook hyung my entire life and it's been many years since I declared that he is the one for me!”
“Give him a chance, Jae!” Siwon rebutted, plucking out a grass flake and twirling it between his fingers. “You could always say no if the courtship does not go well. It's not as if he asked you to marry him.”
Jaejoong glared at his best friend from spot of grass he had been torturing by stomping upon it while he was ranting angrily.
“You don't even know if Dongwook hyung returns your feelings.” Siwon continued. “So what if he kissed you? Don't you know the number of maidens he has kissed before?”
Jaejoong continued shooting daggers at the boy. Siwon shrugged and laid back on the grass, cushioning his head by folding his arms under him. “Come on, it's not everyday that a Jung courts you. Give him a chance, Jae.”
A few moments of silence and it was a “Don't make me regret this, Won.”

Yunho arrived at the doorstep of the Kim household with a bunch of lavender roses at 7.15 pm sharp. He adjusted his black slacks and straightened his white button-up, checked his hair through the reflection on the glass and finally pressed the doorbell. Just in a few seconds, the door opened to reveal a gleeful Ara, who had been obviously expecting him. She bashfully let him in, the blush decorating her cheeks which made her look adorable.
Eventually, Jaejoong had been the one who took Yunho's breath away when he came down the staircase. He looked absolutely picturesque in the form fitting trousers and a light blue tunic.
“These are for you.” Yunho handed the scented roses to the boy. Lavander. A colour that symbolized enchantment and love at first sight which Jaejoong remembered his sister telling him that vaguely while tending to the garden.
“Thank you.” He smiled slightly at the man as he accepted the flowers.
“Shall we go now?” Yunho offered his hand, as he signaled towards the door. Jaejoong nodded in agreement, taking Yunho's hand shyly.
Giggling, Ara closed the door behind the cute couple as they left first their first ever date.

“Pies. They are the specialty of this town, you know.” Jaejoong pointed to a nearby stall as they strolled along the crowded street. They had decided to visit the weekly food market for their date, unconventional but cute. Shoppers and shop keepers turned their heads around when the couple walked past. People quickly started whispering and the ladies found something new to gossip about.
‘Could it be true that the Kims have decided to marry their youngest and only boy off? There are still 4 daughters sitting at home unwed and they are marrying their only boy, that’s unheard of!’ One woman whispered to the other.
‘You’re forgetting the fact that the boy is a beta-male. You know how treasured their kind are, who wouldn’t want a beta-male in their family. This is why the Jungs are taking advantage of the situation and bagging a beta-male home.’ The other replied.
It was fortunate that Yunho and Jaejoong were not able to hear the ugly gossip and the groundless rumors. They had quickly made their way to street-stall stealing pies.
“Two hot sweet pies, sir,” Jaejoong requested. The seller acknowledged their order and got ready two pies for his customers. Once ready, Yunho exchanged the pies with money and handed one to Jaejoong, who blushed at Yunho’s gentlemanly behavior.
“Mmmm…” Jaejoong savored the hot pie, his eyes closing and lips curving into a smile, enjoying the burst of sweetness. Many a times, Yunho had wanted to be like his dad, his uncles or a reputable figure but never in his life had Yunho wanted to be an inanimate object, a pie to be exact. Watching Jaejoong’s content face, Yunho wished that he would be able to bring such content in Jaejoong’s life in the future.
“It’s good, isn’t it?” Jaejoong asked, almost his finishing his pie, looking at Yunho expectantly. Yunho blushed in embarrassment when he realized that he hadn’t even taken a bit out of his pie as he had been too busy staring at Jaejoong. Quickly taking a big bite, Yunho agreed through a mouthful, embarrassing himself further.

It was almost 10 by the time they had returned and they came back home with growling stomachs as the snacks in between their date had been barely fulfilling.
Mrs. Kim had been nice enough to heat dinner for the boys, admonishing Yunho and Jaejoong for being too skinny time-to-time and filling their plates again.
“You should stay over, Yunho, it’s pretty late at night.” Mrs. Kim said once the two were done with dinner. “You could sleep one of the spare rooms.”
“I wouldn’t want to impose, Mrs. Kim,” Yunho declined politely.
“Nonsense!” Mrs. Kim playfully scolded. “This house, which used to be so cramped up because of our nine children, now feels so bare with 4 of them gone. I would like to relish again what it feels like to have more people around. Afterall, you would be taking our Jaejoongie away from us soon enough, making this house even emptier.”
Both Jaejoong and Yunho blushed at the last comment. They didn’t know that Mrs. Kim was so keen on a marriage between Yunho and Jaejoong! Afterall, the talks only went up to courtship, no one had spoken of a marriage as of yet.
“Come a long now, I need some time to tidy up the spare room,” Mrs. Kim said, already making her way upstairs. “Joongie, why don’t you lend some sleeping clothes to Yunho, I’m sure you can find something that would be able to fit him.”
--
“I’m sorry if it seems like I’m imposing,” Yunho said as he scratched the back of his head bashfully while watching Jaejoong rummage through his drawers.
Holding up a pajama shirt in the air and examining its size, Jaejoong replied, “Like Umma said; nonsense, Jung Yunho,”
“I think this will fit you,” Jaejoong said, pressing the pajama top against Yunho’s chest, looking up at the handsome face for some kind of consent.
Startled by the intense gaze from those beautiful doe eyes looking up at him, Yunho gave a flustered nod.
“Alright, here you go,” Jaejoong said as he dumped Yunho with his night clothes.
“Yunho! Your room is ready!” Mrs. Kim called from the room down the hallway.
“I’ll be there in a minute!” Yunho replied before turning back to look at Jaejoong once again.
“So…erm,” Yunho began, “Goodnight then.”
“Goodnight Yunho. Sweet dreams.” Jaejoong replied, smiling.
“Erm…yeah.” Without much thought, Yunho quickly bent down and pecked Jaejoong’s cheek before dashing away to his room.
Jaejoong gasped, putting a hand on the cheek that Yunho had kissed as he watched Yunho scramble away. Unknowingly, a silly smile adorned those plump lips.
