Pet peeve
Hygiene here really bothers me. While I'm such everything is regulated to the point of insanity, it isn't enforced. badrach could never eat at a döner place, a mensa and probably not most restaurants because there is clearly too little food service training. Abenteuer Bahn und Reisenden
Traveling seems to be more much commonplace in Europe than I'd even imagined, but I'm seeing how there are differences between people who vacation because they can and those that simply love travel. EU
My opinion of the EU is becoming more realistic; it's not all great.
Noting that this is all learned from explanations and that my slow internet connection makes researching it not worthwhile, here are issues I have.
- If streets are smaller than a certain size, there's no stripe in the middle to show lanes. What crap is this? People, you ( Read more... ) -

Culture shock
Despite the fact that I've been in Germany about a total of a year over the summers and some winter time, I'm finally experiencing culture shock. Things don't always translate perfectly, and I'm realizing when contexts are wrong and having to develop whole new concepts in my mind for things. Some things here are disgustingly old fashioned. I'm annoyed that I can't go to a pharmacy because it's Sunday. A friend studying here is having problems because things are sent with paper through the mail still. There's no electronic signing up for her classes either.
