NOT FAIR!!!!!

Ok, I've decided that this isn't fair. 1/3 of my friends got to go to Pennsic, for at least some part of it, 1/3 got to go to Convergance in a city that I know pretty well, and 1/3 are getting to go to Gen Con and/or Burning Man. And what do I get to do? I get to stay home, be really broke, and work a lot. F*ck this. *grump

I've worked in the real world long enough to know that a job that makes me happy and pays decently is much better than a job that makes me miserable and pays wonderfully. I would rather be happy and need to be careful about money than be miserable but able to buy anything I wanted.

Job satisfaction, in the long run, is worth a lot more than money. Granted, enough money to pay all the bills (with hopefully some left over for emergencies/future plans/etc/) doesn't hurt, and good health insurance is a bonus too.

I could be out in industry, and make (so they tell me) a lot more money. But I wouldn't be having nearly as much fun. I probably also wouldn't have my own (sort of) foundry, machine shop, welding lab, computer lab, etc.

That's my point exactly. Money is nice, especially if you can set things so there's a little to put by, but waking up in the morning and looking forward to going to work is priceless.

Belize? Rawk, that's supposed to be Tres Fun. I doubt any of us but surrender can afford it, assuming that we have to foolishly budgetting time and money for next Pennsic (yes, it was a lot of fun).

Well, there was naked rum-sipping in a swimming hole with hot friends, and the Mead Party was ... amazing.

Plus, it was reported that the cook was very good where we were.

Next year though, we plan on having sufficient Friendly Hot Chicks "that even royals will precess by to tell us that we suck".

Of course, it's worse when a new boss turns The Funnest Job Evar into something you dread. Oh well... perhaps that will be resolved soon enough...
