Well I didn't quite post a new recipe/photo every week in January as I planned. I got sick with the cold that's been going around and it mostly threw me off any creative goals I may have made for a few weeks.  Then when I did make something that I could have posted, it wasn't technically new so I didn't feel that I should share. This was by far the worst picture I've taken all month. I have run out of interesting things to photograph, and this picture shows it. This is the front porch of the neighbors across the street. It's getting more difficult to find interesting things to photograph as my month of photos comes to a end. I ended up taking a picture of the Chrismtas cards we have hanging in our entryway. in the backyard in Panama City, an Egret will sometimes stop by to have lunch. Usually he will try to feed off of the little fish swimming in the pond...Sunday he decided to feast on little geckos.

On Saturday we went to Pier Park in Panama City, which is a new shopping complex down by the beach. Normally I don't think we would have gone there, but G's mom told us there was a new Hofbrau Haus there and of course we then wanted to go - immediately.

A tradition we have when we visit G's family in Florida is to go to the Destin outlets. It's basically the one time a year that G will begrudgingly shop for clothes. I think part of why he and I look forward to the trip though is not the shopping, but where we always stop for lunch.

We flew to Panama City, Florida on Christmas morning to spend the holiday with G's mom, stepdad and aunt. It was a bit surreal to walk outside of the airport into 75 degree weather, but somehow we managed to enjoy it :) We had a great day indulging in lots of food, wine, gifts and sweets.

My grandmother is Polish and for the holidays we always make her pierogies. Her recipe is made with cabbage, bacon, onion and cheese and it's the only kind I knew about until college.  It was there I discovered most people only knew of pierogies made with mashed potatoes (which I thought was very weird).
