So a movie is being filmed in our city, and it's a big deal because it's a big movie, and so we've been getting a lot of weird drink orders from the crew members (who aren't from western PA, let's put it that way

Yeah, absolutely nothing goes in trenta cups if it's not iced tea or iced coffee (or Refreshers if you're in CA/AZ.)
Howeverrrr - if they were to purchase a trenta iced tea/coffee, consume the beverage, and bring the cup back for their weird matcha-water concoction, you may use the cup for their beverage. We have some customers who bring in, like, "Big Gulp"-type giant cups and order a Starbucks Doubleshot with however many shots, and we just charge them accordingly.
And to answer your question, I would charge them for an iced green tea latte.
Our promo book says Southern California. We have them here in Ventura County, and I know they have them in San Diego for sure. So maybe everywhere else in between? However I did hear one of my friends finding a store near Berkeley that sold them, so, who knows.
I would be the one freak who would ring this up exactly as you are. We used to have a severely lactose intolerant gentleman who would come in and get a mocha water and we only rang him up for the mocha. If he wanted to make it larger one day I would. I mean if you really want to make up for the price of the cup I say go ahead and ring matcha twice or even charge him for a green tea but since they're not getting milk or syrup the only great expense is the cup. *shrug* I can't see ringing someone up for a $3 beverage just because the cup is "expensive".
I haven't seen paperwork saying NOT to use trenta for ice water, but I have seen on paper where it says talls should be given for ice water [unless requested otherwise, and in this scenario it was requested otherwise]
Thirding this. My first instinct was charge for an Iced Tea, maybe sub matcha to account for it, but that still seems like a lot. If you really feel like you need to account for the cost of the cup, then like thehobbit said, tell the customer you have to charge her twice for the matcha in order to do so.
we have a customer who orders matcha and hot water in a tall cup on a nightly basis, we've just been ringing him up for matcha powder because we don't charge for hot water. however, i think a trenta cup is a different story and that should definitely be somehow accounted for because that drink shouldn't be going into a trenta cup.
