I knew Batman was different in the Silver age.

But I've read so much of ol' dark and broody that I never really realized just HOW different Batman's become.

Then I stumbled across these lovely little pages from Detective 474.

I've got all that in an anthology; Batman is grim when he needs to be but relaxes when he's around Dick, I think this sort of thing is what Grant Morrison, who is writing Batman after Infinite Crisis, is refering to when he says he's going to write Batman as the "hairy love god" that he was in the seventies.

I'll scan some more from it, if I get a chance.
