My hubs and I are going through this exact same thing. My MIL's house is a millstone around our neck. Am glad it worked out for you. Hugs and peace~~~D

We're doing this right now with my dad's house. (He's still alive, but we need to pay for his nursing home care.) I got one carload of stuff and that's all I could take both physically and emotionally. I feel the way you do about it--the house was just a shell. The home was the people inside.

I have attachments to the house my mother lives in currently. Still, I worry it will be difficult when the time comes to let go.
