We have been mostly nesting, although we did go north almost to Baraboo and wandered the grounds of Dr. Evermore's Forevertron, a truly amazing place even in the rain. But it's gotten very hot and sticky, so we have been tucked up in the nice new air-conditioned apartment with books and music, putting things in order and hanging out. A good time ( Read more... )

She has Officially Broken Up with J., has a nice new (if smaller) place, and we are currently plotting our logistics. We have seen four plays and a fabulous cabaret show, walked shopped, seen beloved old friends, and eaten way, way more than is good for us. As firehair28 once said about Burning Man, "Zut alors, what a ride!"

firehair28 here. The past few days have been a whirlwind. Mum picked me up at the airport Thursday afternoon and fed me Thai food (yum!). After I was somewhat fortified with non-airline food, we went and surprised Dr. Jim, who did a wonderful double-take (bearmum hadn't warned him)and we both got the aches beaten out of us for a bit. I had a hip joint replaced back in January. The surgery went very well, and I can walk now without that awful stabbing pain in my groin, but it's definitely a sign that my body is starting to wear out.

On Tuesday January 29th, the nice surgeons at Kaiser Oakland are going to build me a lovely new right hip joint. I can't say I am wildly enthusiastic about having more surgery (I thought I was done!
