Getting Older

I had a hip joint replaced back in January. The surgery went very well, and I can walk now without that awful stabbing pain in my groin, but it's definitely a sign that my body is starting to wear out.

Sounds like your hip surgery went well. A year down the line from mine and I only occasionally notice it; usually when I sit on a hard chair I notice the pressure between the surface and my new hip joint. Titanium is not as yeilding as bone and feels like I'm sitting on a large ball bearing. Also, I still find it an interesting excersize trimming my toenails, not being able to get my foot up to where I can reach them easily.

Sounds familiar, although I do not feel the bump as much (probably because I am rather better padded in the hip/butt area). I solved the toenail problem by having a periodic pedicure at my local nail shop. No toenail polish, just soak and cut them.

Sounds fabulous -- good luck, and let us know when you get it working. Doncha just love the internet? One of my favorite SF authors, Lois McMaster Bujold, has one of her characters respond to a question about computer access on her home planet: "Why, it's the first item in the Betan Constitution -- access to information shall not be abridged." We're getting there...
