and things are going well, but going by really, really fast.  The NCLEX is done and over with- only 75 questions, then the computer turned off.  I got my results online after 2 days-- and I got the magic word..."pass".  I swear though, it was the longest 48 hours of my life.  I didn't find much sympathy at work...they all gave me the "oh, back in ( Read more... )

So...it's 2008
Here's the plan for the next while...

1. I'm finishing up nursing school doing clinicals at Suburban on cardiac step down/ telemetry and at ECMC on 10S (acute geriatric services). 
2. Graduation May 10th!!!!!!!!!
3. Hopefully a teensy tiny vacation...then starting at the VNA and getting ready to take my boards.

haha, i should be busy at clinical tomorrow.  my patient has sepsis from 3 (possibly 4) different drug-resistant bugs, a massive, deep pressure ulcer above his butt, schizophrenia, substance abuse, a stroke, a history of a gunshot wound to the abdomen, a feeding tube, diarrhea, and IV meds.  And that's just what the chart is telling me.  oh, and ( Read more... )

 Haha...I am not updating when I have a lecture review to write, a program to design, an assessment to fudge and then type up, an exam to study for tomorrow, and a worksheet to do...

nope.  I am DEDICATED to nursing school...

DEDICATED.

School is owning my ass this semester.  mostly because i have zero motivation to do oodles of busy work.

Dealing with really sick and really dying people is a lot tougher when they are 25 years old than when they are 85 years old.

For a while I was so sure that I wanted to go into hospice and palliative care, but I don't know if I can do that for people that (in my opinion) shouldn't be dying.

This makes me sad.

So I am just over halfway through my internship...overall i love it (which is good because i already signed my life away for a year after graduation).  I get a little frustrated...some nurses aren't sure what to do with me, a few paycheck problems related to me being an intern, etc...but i love my patients, so thats the important part.  i've seen ( Read more... )
