When I went back to college (2006, 2007), I wondered about the same things, and I'm older than you. The term papers were fine, the brain soon readapted to the whole learning thing, and I didn't feel out of place, because we all had one thing in common: we were all students. I met plenty of people nearer my age as well, and some are still friends.
