I'm supposed to be winging my way to ORC right now, but instead I'm home with a sick kitty. Lucy is 16 and has been steadily losing weight and barely eating anything for weeks. She's on medicine for hyperthyroid, but just this morning it occurred to me that she could also have a blockage because she couldn't digest the Pill Pockets I tried last ( Read more... )

Thanks, Mariole. I'm afraid "fine" didn't work out, but I'm still hoping for a cure.

Oh, Beruscats, I'm so sorry. Both that your kitty is sick and that you may not make it to ORC. Lorie is the cat goddess of all this and she does know of where she speaks. My own beloved Claire made it to 16 and the last little bit was so hard. May your darling Lucy feel much better very soon. How wonderful that she has you to take such good care of her and to be so worried about her and to make her feel better. All kitties should be so loved.

Thanks, and sorry about your Claire. It's so hard when you can't make them feel better. But I got the sweetest message from my petsitter, saying she was so happy that we're closer to a diagnosis on this and how positive it may turn out to be. I hope she's right!

Hoping and praying for good things for your cat! How dreadful... I remember the feeling well and hope she's well on her way to recovery soon. Am sorry for you if you're going to be missing ORC... but I'd do the same, I'm sure, if the wee beastie needed me.

Thank you. I'm afraid it's not looking good. We've had 12 good years together, I'll try to focus on that. I'm just glad I realized in time that I should stay and mount the last-ditch effort. I had a dreadful dream that Billy had died - my subconscious must have been sending the message that ORC was not where I needed to be.

SOB! I am so sorry you had to miss out. I would like to try to go sometime but it always comes when I'm seemingly, at my busiest. *Sigh*

*hugs back* ORC has slid to the back of my mind in face of poor Lucy's distress. The vet is voting against aggressive treatment, but there's some lingering hope until the biopsy comes back. I tend to be a worst-case worrier, though, so it's been hard on the tear ducts.

I hope we both can get to a moot this year, if either of us can get a not-busy time. This was my best shot, but maybe I can at least spare a weekend this summer.

You have my prayers on Lucy. I, too, am a pessimist, but hopefully, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Orc seems minor compared to the care and love needed by a love one, hope I didn't sound as if I thought it was more important than Lucy in my previous post. Best wishes, my friend, I hope all turns out well and that I will get to see you this year.

Oh no, I didn't take it that way. Thanks for the good wishes, I'm sure the positive energy helps her.
