J.K. Rowling has said a few words in follow-up to the final Harry Potter book. I am foolishly relieved about this, because I was pretty disappointed to think we'd never get the answers to these last questions. Apparently, I wasn't the only one.

I wonder if she'll write an encyclopedia someday. I can imagine all the Potter groupies would buy it.

She seems to be saying so, and that said encyclopedia would include some details she didn't have room to squeeze into the books.

I'd probably buy it. Does that make me a Potter groupie?

I guess I can live with that. :)

Neat! Many thanks!

I'm sure Rowling has more books ahead. There are plenty more stories to be told in the Potterverse.

In any case, she could certainly write up a series of Chocolate Frog cards, which would outsell any other series of Chocolate Frog cards in history...

As for other stories, I don't know. I think she may leave the series to stand on its own. I'd love to read more stories in the Potterverse, of course, but I fear there may be no more...

But I would love it if she came up with Chocolate Frog cards! They would definitely sell...

I think she's said she's done with Harry's story, but there are many other characters (and a thousand years of "Historical Novels") whose adventures could be described. For that matter, she's be smart to license the rights to the pre-Dumbledore era, to her publisher; no further work necessary for her, but continuous residuals in perpetuity.

Welcome! I was very curious about the futures of all of the young survivors, and the answers she's giving fit so beautifully. I'm thoroughly tickled by it all. :)

they're such lovely little people, aren't they? it's difficult for me to call them characters - they are so much more than that! jkr really has done a beautiful job concluding this series, so i hope she keeps her word and doesn't try to write sequels - i think it would cheapen the originals, in a way.

incidentally, let me know if you need help with any PW promo stuff. :)

and thanks!

I have been avoiding spoilers (I'm still reading order of the phoenix (sp?))

But I will say from everything I have heard I am more convinced now that ms. Rowling is a very smart business woman. She has left herself openings to do one shot books that further the potterverse. Talk about how fans would react to getting the "Here's what happened durring this time..." "how so and so met, fell in love, all while avoiding death." Fans would go nuts for it. So would her publishers.

BTW: open ended invite for you and rob: food, our place! Call us sometime.
