Music recommendations!

Alright all,

I am seriously jonesing for a new music fix, and I have no leads.

Help!

What is the coolest music you know, that I might not know already?

(Assume that all genres are fair game. Weird stuff is welcome, but so is mainstream, and everything in between.)

I find Amos Lee to have both an amazing voice and a social conscious without being in your face.

Blind Melon - the more obscure stuff.

Damien Rice - who now has a new album out!

The Little Willies - a country/bluegrass collaboration band Norah Jones is a part of. They have one cd out that I know of - some amazingly well done songs.

Gomez

Sara Bareilles

Spoon

K.T. Tunstall

Let me know if you wish me to continue.....

Pink Martini They always put me in a good mood and make me feel like sitting in a french Cafe or at a 1950's cocktail lounge in Paris.

Flook - cutting edge Irish Trad (oxymoron? ;-))

Alasdair Fraser - Bestest Fiddler in the Celtic world. Try "Fire and Grace" first... Natalie Haas..... amazing!

You are absolutely right. I got to see him and Natalie in concert in Brattleboro, VT last year. Awesome show. It turned into a free-for-all Ceilidh by the end of the night :)

Ooh, good to know. I'd run across the name Alasdair Fraser before, but never really investigated. Thanks for the album recommendation!

Hear we go (get it?)

Andy McKee - solo finger style guitarist

Joy Division - the best of early goth

*Billy Talent - angry and fast

Cat Stevens - Acoustic Folk

*The Decemberists - Genius indy band with the best speech impediment ever

Flogging Molly - irish punk

*Guster - another great indy band

The Hush Sound - mellow

Mika - the happiest most upbeat you can possibly get (song: grace kelly)

*The Spill Canvas - a very diverse band

Stephen Lynch - lewd offensive comedy

Streetlight Manifesto - Ska

**ThouShaltNot - "constantly exploring the confluence of postpunk, industrial, folk, goth, and classical"

* = Highly Recomended
