1) you'v got your base image. you copy it. you create a new layer, and you paste that image into the new layer. I guess as a new selection. I just ctrl-v it.

2) once you do step one, step 2 should make sense. Your making a threshold image to copy, put to the side (as a new image) and delete from the original work. You'll add it again in step 3.

3) Copy to dotted image in this tutorial (right click, copy). With layre 2 selected, paste the dotting image in, as a new selection, or just ctrl-v it.
