A mixed day

Houston, we have lift-off
Well, our van is back in our hands after having Steel Seal run through it for most of the day. The process is one of running the engine with this fluid in the cooling system until it overheats, then letting the engine cool down and repeating it. Well, I have now dropped the minivan off at the mechanic's shop around the corner (Sil's Automotive Service in San Carlos, if anyone's interested) to have them treat the engine with Steel Seal. Well, it seems the problem wasn't that we had air bubbles. The problem was that there was a serious miscommunication and, despite my having said we needed the head gasket replace and that it was leaking carbon monoxide into the cooling system, the shop didn't include that into the estimate when talking to us, and, as a result, didn't do that work ( Read more... ) -
Update on the van
Yesterday, after over $400 in parts and over $600 in labor, we got the van back. It seemed to be working fine. This morning, it fired up with no problem and, for the first time since we got it, all the warning lights on the dash were off. The temperature was staying low the whole way to the train station where I dropped Lysana off for her commute to the ( Read more... ) -

I am agog
It appears that someone has compiled a list of drink recipes based on webcomics. It's an interesting mix and some of them are ones I'd like to try. I'm just suprised by the sheer volume of entries. -

The American Family Association is claiming credit for the loss of sales that Ford has had and has started another email campaign against them to send to the new CEO of Ford, trying to get them to stop supporting equal rights for the people the AFA doesn't like (currently homosexuals).
