This weekend, I read Syrup by Maxx Barry. It was a Christmas gift from justbluemyself, who also lent to me subsequent reading material, PopCo by Scarlett Thomas.

Sammy part 2
Sam is home. The vet said he probably ingested a small amount of some chemical. It set off a physiological reaction -- his nose and mouth just drip like a faucet. Last night, Sammy came in from outside and climbed up in my dad's chair. When we moved him, there was a puddle where he'd been. It wasn't pee, unless, we decided, he'd sort of wet the bed in his sleep, which isn't something he'd done before. It was too big for drool. Days off are foxy. I stayed up late, slept in, had a long shower, read fanfic, and er, did laundry. Laundry, woo! Showering involved hardcore exfoliation -- borderline flaying -- followed by a coating of Vaseline petroleum jelly. (This is my favorite moisturizer.
