RIP Richard Griffiths
So sad to hear of the death of this great actor and wonderful man. I loved him in everythng I saw him in, from The History Boys to Pie in the Sky to A Private Function to, obviously, Harry Potter. Goodbye and rest in peace.

Books for boys
OK, friends, can I pick your brains? I'm looking for ideas for bedtime books for me to read to my sons, aged 6 and 9. I'm thinking of classic-y sort of things - the sort of book that maybe they're not going to pick up and read themselves. And also books that are enjoyable for me to read. Hail Caesar!
Yesterday I took the rare move of abdicating myself of all responsibility as wife / mother / project manager / tutor / dog walker and went to the theatre, which I haven't done for many years.

Worrying behaviour
My sub-conscious appears to have decided for me which fic option I'm going for next, which was considerate of it. Just as I thought I was going to have a little break from writing to concentrate on real life, my brain's been hijacked by a plot.

My SSHG exchange fic is finished! Well, sort of. It's still got to be betaed, and I'm sure I'll be tinkering with it until the very last minute but, still, it's basically done.

Finally ... progress!!
There has been a brief lull in the rain today, so I've actually managed to get out in the garden for an hour or so, channelling my inner Sprout. I've put up supports for the first crop of peas, planted the second crop (about a month late!), and picked five pounds of gooseberries and a nice big bowl of blackcurrants. Film indulgence
Husband having abandoned me for the evening, I've been raiding the DVD shelves for forgotten gems. First up - the lovely Mr Rickman in The January Man (1989). Only a small part (snigger) but he's utterly adorable, mainly because he smiles a lot.
