1st interview
My interview on Monday with the Heart Transplant people went well. I talked to 2 ladies, involving 3 positions for almost an hour. 2 positions are inpatient in the hospital doing pre and post-op, ICU, Cardiac Care Unit. The last position is outpatient in the clinic managing level 3 and 4 heart failure. Neither one has OR time. Boo. I'm not sure if ( Read more... ) -
I hung out with people!!
Tonight I met up with Stacie, a friend from high school who lives in south Austin. Every Saturday she and her friends get together for pizza. One of them is from Chicago and apparently made pizza every week growing up there. I drove to her friend's house - conveniently it's the same road I will take to my interview on Monday. I'm still ready.
I've had several nibbles of employment, and I am ready for something real. We've been living off my credit card until it stopped working 2 days ago. I called them today and without telling me, they lowered my credit limit - by $4000, so now I'm over. Awesome. Bagh!! The universe is trying to teach me patience.
So first Trevecca screwed up my paperwork. Then I was supposed to have an interview today, but I got a call on Monday afternoon that although she told me Wednesday, she scheduled me for Monday which meant I missed my appointment. They couldn't see me today so I got rescheduled for next Monday. At least it wasn't my fault, I guess but it still sucks ( Read more... ) -
Ok, I am ready to work.
I got another call about some positions today. It's with a different health group, and to be honest, I'd rather take the other position doing heart transplants just because it is closer and I think I would have more time in the OR. That one is with Seton and in Austin. I am also in the running for 2 other surgery positions in Temple with Scott & ( Read more... ) -
How cool would that be?
I got my first call for an interview. It's next Wednesday and it's at a clinic that handles heart transplants. How awesome would that be? People would say, "Oh, what did you do today?" and I would say, " You know. Heart transplants, saving lives, same old same old." The pay would be way better too. I'm having a bit of a metaphysical crisis.
Y'all remember how I've kind of had a bit of a hard time since April 2009, right? And the causes are about 50/50 Chris and PA school. Chris got sane again around May 2011 and school got better and I finally graduated and passed the PANCE, so now it looks like things are going alright. Even good, one might say. Turkey trickery!
It's got to have been 5 years since I had turkey and since then my tummy has felt mostly fine. Well. Last Friday Chris and I went to Fire House Subs, Chris' favorite sub shop. I asked for a sandwich with turkey, explained to them I have a turkey allergy (it's easier to say allergy than explain the difference) and asked them to replace the turkey ( Read more... ) -

Katie's visit, day 2
Saturday we went to Round Rock Donuts for breakfast. I love donuts. Then we went to Hobby Lobby. I needed more supplies for our painting night. I had originally thought to schedule one of those paint a picture, drink wines thing, but decided to just do it at home. Hobby Lobby had canvas 30% off so it kind of all worked out.
