I turn into a hermit when I read - that's probably no surprise to anyone who knows me. When it's a series, I become even more secluded and absorbed. It seems that when it's a series I am listening to on audio book, my housemates are lucky if they catch sight of me on a tea or bathroom break for weeks at a time. I love internet research. You turn up unexpected things, like Lithgow holding Ironfest every year, in honour of their history in the steel industry, which ended 80 years ago. Ok, it's not as cool as the postman destroying the pattern penny, but it made me smile. -

It's been a good weekend. I had a movie night with hecticred on Friday, the theme being Swashbuckling Historical Nonsense. blindmouse's office romance Disney fic has prompted me to download Disney's Tarzan and The Princess and the Frog. I'd never been interested in watching the former. Despite knowing that Disney doesn't do torture, graphic violence or unhappy ending, I still remember the trauma of reading the book when I was nine. I've just found that a lot of people are selling their second hand Ruth Manning Sanders for exorbitant prices. A Book of Mermaids, one I was particularly interested in, starts at $120.
