Scared

I know that you can't contract it through casual contact, but there is a new little person in my life that has HIV, and it scares me. I will come into contact with his bodily fluids on a daily basis, and although they are mostly the lower risk fluids and we use gloves, I get enough spit in the eye and scratches/abrasions in the average day that I ( Read more... )

Scary. Sounds like you are doing the best you can to be safe, but is there anyone that you could talk to there about safety issues without upsetting any of the kids? Good luck!

Thanks for commenting, it makes me feel like my scared is a little justified. Theoretically there is going to be a meeting with some sort of qualified professional, and I hope that it happens...

Your fear IS justified. Having to deal with blood and spit and crazy children all day, you have every right to be worried. Though I would be more worried with what kind of killer flu or cold the little buggers are going to give you. Children are little incubators. That is how I got the Swine flu last year, for a co-workers kid who had it. Just be as safe as you can be.

As for me? Well, I may be laid off for the new year. That is ok with me though, as I am getting rather fed up with my place of work. Hopefully I get hired on at CNC. If I keep applying, they have to get fed up and hire me sooner or later. Talking to a couple of guys on plenty of fish. Nothing exciting, really. Hope things are going well for you.

Oh, that is scary! Can you wear glasses of some sort to work? That might help deflect spit. Have they gotten that professional in yet?

Not yet, but I just found out that it is not HIV- it's antibiotic resistant flesh eating disease, which also sounds bad, but it is somewhat less contagious, so that's good.

How is life there?

Oh, well, at least less contagious is good. Poor little person.

Life here is going along :) As we approach winter break my children are edging up the crazy-o-meter (I probably am too) but we're all really looking forward to it! I've just finished writing the JLPT again so I'm starting to relax and get into the holiday mood.
