Support Group Sign-Ups - Open through Wednesday!

So this is something we have over at sgabigbang - support groups! In order to promote a feeling of comrades in arms in the community, I encouraged writers to break themselves up into little subsets of our challenge here, so that they could set up a little e-mail chain to check on their progress/encourage one another/harass one another, etc. Each group could ( Read more... )

::RUNS THROUGH FLOWERS, SNEEZES, ALMOST FALLS IN A DITCH, MISSES AND FALLS INTO YOUR ARRMMSSS::

Okay, so, as Jo said, I am definitely leaning towards more gen-y stuff for my first idea, though it'll still be Arthur/Merlin by the end. My plan is to take the Five Things genre and run with it, paint a picture of Arthur from five outside POVs. The love song of Arthur Pendragon, if you will.

My second idea is to write a Merlin/Arthur road trip modern AU, in which Arthur is a freak of nature, and thereby in love with an incredibly cheesy pop eighties icon to the point that he feels the need to travel hundreds, nay *thousands* of miles to see this icon in person. And cry like a girl. And buy t-shirts. And shot glasses at every single stop, because he's a collector. Also, there would be cows.

Come join us if you like! We're very outgoing and loud and fun people and we will cheerlead for whoever needs cheerleading!

OMG that road trip AU sounds crazy. And by crazy I of course mean awesome! I put my entry below ... take a look, maybe we could merge into a big blob? And since you and aelora are using the same icon I have a feeling you'd get along... ;)

OMG, would we have a sekrit handshake? I wants sekrit handshake! And a special knock. And possibly inside jokes. *looks hopeful*

That said, I am writing Arthur/Merlin that may turn out somewhat cracky and fluffy (though I am still hoping in vain for srs bsns story). The hows, whys and wheres are still being decided. With luck there will be more UST than you can shake a stick at.

I am aiming for section 4 and this will be my very first foray into Merlin fandom so I come with a warning of rampant insecurity floods, gale force self doubt and perhaps a sprinkling of easily amused like whoa.

So if you're group recruiting, pick me! pick me! I don't wanna be the dorky kid left alone on the bench. I'm fully housebroken! I do not have mountains of cheerleading experience, but I can bring the squee and am not too proud to flash someone to get us out of detention. I promise I won't babble all crazy like this all the time

AND NOT CRAZY. You forgot that part, Jo. Even though there are cows and T.H. White's and also, we are sorta crazy.

Join us if you like, though no pressure! Admittedly, we are a lame team so far, considering we don't have a sekrit handshake yet, but I feel that it should involve hip shimmies and the clappity-clappity-thighslappity game we used to do in grade school. ::sage nod::

OK, here goes...

I'm writing a modern AU Merlin/RPS crossover, in which a bored Nimueh decides to make a series about the *true* Arthurian legends. Called, yep, Merlin. The actors cast are terribly close to how they used to be (really just to piss Merlin off more than anything) ... and of course Morgana's on board too, causing mischief ... and there will be Merlin/ASH slash because I'm just that way (as well as Bradley/Colin and Merlin/Arthur, of course) ... and there will lots of magic (because yes, Colin is dedicated enough to learn whatever he puts his mind to, and don't you forget it, mate).

I already have two fabulous betas who I will be bouncing ideas off of, but I'd love to find somebody who knows *something* about the TV or film business. I'll also need people to listen to me fret as the deadline approaches and my story shows no signs of wrapping up. I'm going for the big 35K. *bites nails ( ... )

*NERVOUS* Hi!

I'm going to be writing something set approximately 5-6 years into the future from canon as it stands. It's all going to kick off with the Druids assassinating Uther (using teenaged!Mordred as their assassin), so that Arthur becomes king. And it all goes downhill from there. Eventually, there will be Merlin/Arthur and Gwen/Lancelot, and a happy ending. (Which will be semi-compliant with the Arthurian Legend, if I play my cards right!)

Other Stuff About Me: I'm Alice, I'm nearly 20, and I'm currently attempting an English Lit. degree - so I'm going to be panicking pretty much throughout due to essays & exams. (Although I'll probably do it quietly.) I'm also incredibly excited, and itching to start writing!

Mods: This may be a dumb question, but when can we start?

Oh, yeah. I'm going for 35K+, I LOVE reading snippets, and I can do general encouragement/moral support. Also, this is my first Big Bang experience.

Yes please! *holds out hand* :D

Thanks! I see from your comment below that you're writing Post-Apocolyptic!Modern-Future!Midsummer Night's Dream - please tell me more? It sounds awesome so far!

Also: oh, man, your icon. <3

Okay, here goes. I've got a couple of cheerleaders from my flist already, but I could always use more, and I am an awesome cheerleader myself ;) I'm writing a slightly darkish, wallowing post-ep-13 story that's all about Arthur. It's Merlin/Arthur and *coughs*11k words long already*coughs* (I am nothing if not aware that I need all the time in the world to finish something XD).

So, uh, play with me?

lantean_drift March 2 2009, 10:35:45 UTC
I'll play - I'm writing Merlin/Arthur (I don't seem to be capable of writing anything but, atm) and it's looking like a ghost story set using the canon of the show as a leaping point.
The plan is for a little angst, a little h/c, a little fluff, there'll be teh porn, ghosts in Camelot and loads of Merlin and Arthur (and the others, of course).

This will be my first BB challenge though I've been writing for a few years - and, while looking ridiculous with pom poms, I'm more than willing to be a cheerleader.

Any good to you?
.xx.

Oh, yes, very good. I love ghost stories!

Can I play too?

I will be writing Merlin/Arthur, but other than that I'm spinning my mental wheels frantically because I signed up in a moment of insanity and have no actual plot yet... so I suspect a shoulder to cry on/pom poms will be necessary!

(I will probably also bring along thisissirius but I'm not sure what she will be writing either.)
