Well here I am. It's almost time to go home. I'll be flying in on Wednesday late at night. Thursday morning I have to go to Bethel to get some stuff I left in my townhouse. June 1 I start work. Semana Santa
Hello hello! What a week! Semana Santa, or Holy Week, is quite possibly the biggest party in Guatemala, especially here in Antigua. Friday was especially crazy. We left the house at 5:00 AM to go look at the afombra's (carpets) before they were destroyed by the procession.
Most afombras are made of sawdust, like this one:
