I'm not sure I should ask this, but, well...

Which of my grandfather's companions did you like the least?

You can ask me anything, Susan. I am not upset.

It is ... difficult to choose only one, but I believe the Madame President, Romanadvoratrelundar, is the one with whom I share the least affection.

I'm glad to hear it. I'd hate to upset you.

It must be very difficult. What did she do?

It would take more than a simple question to upset me, child. Especially from you.

More so than I would like it to be. Your grandfather has this strange habit of choosing companions for whom I do not approve. But the President has done ghastly things. She drilled a hole in my console, argued with the Doctor and even attempted to kill me. She is a horrible woman.

First, a bit of background, hm? In one of many different universes, as I do tend to get around, I ... mm, cohabitate with the Fifth. In this, I'm given permission to do whatever I will with you. As a result, I generally know your systems much better than the Doctor does, as well as your various rooms, corridors, and other such things. I frequently 'fiddle' with your mechanics and wiring systems without so much as a word from the Doctor. For all he knows, it is a very long and elaborate plan to kill him. With that background supplied...

I admit, I'm very curious to see your reaction to this. Do you have an opinion, or just abject rage?

Both. He should never let you touch me, ever. You are vile filth best left in death and he is a fool to allow this to continue. What have you done to me? If you harm him through me, do not doubt I will harm you in return.

I have done whatever I like with you. I've gutted some of your systems and then replaced them. I've destroyed and rebuilt. I do whatever I like without reprimand. The Doctor is in his own world, he doesn't have the time or the clarity, or even the doubt, to think I might be abusing you.

And I could do the very same to you- I could get into your systems and do whatever you like. Wouldn't that be amusing?

I do not believe you. You've done something to him, hurt him, harmed him. He would not allow this knowingly. He would protect me from you.

You have no such power. I will not let you.

Did you hate being exiled to Earth as much as the Doctor?

It was the most painful experience in my life until then, child. I thought that I should go mad.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that.

It is no matter. It was long ago.

Are the malfunctions we keep experiencing because something is wrong with you, or is it the Doctor's fault, or...well, are you doing it on purpose?

Reply

brigadiertardis July 29 2008, 12:06:03 UTC
Of course they are the Doctor's fault. He always hits the wrong button, or pulls the incorrect lever.

Does it upset you when he makes errors?

Only when they lead to my being kidnapped, which they often do, it seems.

One of the only, child. I try not to think on the past often enough for it to matter, but ... I do long for you.

Have you ever longed for me?

More than I can say.

It helped a little to know that you were out there traveling, even without me. It made it bearable.

When all your kind adopted the name I gave you... I knew.
