Title: Along for the Ride

Summary: Parker's never liked horses. She tried to explain that to the team, but she still got roped into a con requiring her to ride one of the animals. The mission doesn't exactly going according to plan, and Parker realizes that maybe it's time to get over this phobia of hers. But that's not a gauntlet she need face alone, that's what teammates are for. Eliot and Parker friendship, pre-ship if you squint.
Author's Note: This fic was written for the prompt "Eliot/Parker: teaching" at the bringthehappy community. I wanted to get it up for the fest, so this piece is un-betaed. All errors are my own.

Jack's eyes carry the pain of a hundred human lifetimes, of a Time Lord's lifespan without the embrace of the universe to give him a place wherever he was.
Time Lords always know where they are in the universe. They might not know the names, or the people, or the customs, but where they are relative to the heart of the universe? It's as much a part of them as knowing when they are. Humans - even humans like Jack, who are the stones in the Zen-garden sands of life - don't have that knowledge. Can't have it ( ... )

That is such a strong image.
I also like the way this moves from what seems like pity for Jack and humans, to self-pity, to shared joy.

This particular story was one where I just gave Eleven a scene and let him talk through me. I had no clue what was going to come out of my fingers until I typed it.
I need an Eleven icon.
