My mother is very set in her ways.

I understand this. )

I know what you mean, but... melyndaf April 2 2004, 03:53:54 UTC
for what it's worth, you still have lots of people who care about you, no matter what. Remember that.

yeah, yeah, I dig that. This was more a brainspew than a cry for help. Thanks, though ;)

"A loved one suffering from the pain and torment of homosexuality?"

The only pain and torment I suffer comes from the intolerant whinings and such of misguided Bible-thumpers who want to "fix" me.

But for such a small part of what ultimately makes up who I am, it seems like such a huge thing she was attacking...and like eventually it could be an insurmountable obstacle in my relationship with my parents should I choose to clue them in.

Hey, it's damn near impossible not to take offense. Whether or not it's a big part of who you are, it is still an inherent part, and not something you can change just to please her. It's a reminder that her love is conditional. There is an implicit judgement of you in there. That stings coming from a parent, even if you don't accept that judgement, even if- really, especially if- you otherwise get along with her and accept her.

*hug* Yeah, like melyndaf said, there are still lots of people who care about you, and lots who accept the whole package.

too true. Like I said to Mel, this was more about venting than really feeling anything as it's a few days removed. But I know y'all are cool with the quirk factory that is Me...even if certain people are going to be touchy and/or apprehensive

By the way, I love the :)
