I got accepted to UVA (University of Virginia). The 8th-ranked law school in the country. But I don't particularly want to go there at this point. I signed up to attend their admitted students' visit day on March 16. It worked out perfectly because Steven and I were planning to drive to my house on the 15th after my last winter quarter final and ( Read more... )

I always thought recruiters were asses - now I KNOW they are! :D

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, but congrats on getting accepted to UVA! How exciting. :) As for Steven.. I hope whatever the both of you want works out.. I'm coming to the conclusion that the Corps aren't so horrible as long as it's not a deployment. *Laughs.* Jason as the safest MOS, I swear it, plus it translates well into the civilian world - should he decide to get out. What's Steven really want to do? O_o

I think what he really wants is to be a cop, so obviously you think MP. The -possible- problem with that is his height. He's two or three inches shorter than the required height. I know you can get waivers, but since his original ASVAB scores weren't that great, I don't know if that would have an impact on it this time around.

Wow. That's insane that they have height requirements for an MP position. I see short civilian cops all the time! *Laughs.* You'd think him having put in 4 years already, they'd be willing to work with him since it always comes across that they'll do anything to get you back in.

Thanks! And I don't know if he did! My online application status still says incomplete. Oh well...

In terms of LSAT pointers, the best one I can give you is to get signed up for a PowerScore course (www.powerscore.com). Either their weekend one or their longer one. I did the weekend because I didn't find out about it until just before I took the LSAT. Prior to taking the course, I was doing pretty well and scoring in the high 150's on practice tests, but I was pretty much plateauing there. I took the PowerScore course and on test day, I felt GREAT and I ended up with a 168. So even though I was scoring pretty high already, they helped me improve by 10 points. The thing about PowerScore is they really teach you HOW to answer the questions and they teach you really neat tricks that I never would have known about otherwise. I also recommend their Logical Reasoning Bible or Logic Games Bible. I sound like a damn commercial, but seriously, their course and the Logical Reasoning Bible (I didn't get the Logic Games one) REALLY helped!
